Greetings,

I have successfully updated my TIU and now I am trying to update the Remote to version 4; from version 2 skipping version 3.

However, whenever I start the process to update the remote the DCS Loader program just continues saying things like opening com port, sending command, line is high, ... and it never completes. Any suggestions?

First off, since you are up-grading from 2.XX have you first done a reset?

The Reset happens after the upgrade, not before.

You have something else on your computer that is trying to use the same COM port that the loader is trying to use. Do you have a PDA? These typically hog COM1, which is what the program usually works with. Try turning the program off. Also, antivirus programs could cause a problem. Disconnect from the 'net, then disable the AV. Then try the loader.

It's been a while since I've had to do a upgrade from 2.0. However, I do have one waiting in the wings... I thought there was a step to be done before the upgrade to clear out the memories of the TIU and handheld, to prevent "ghost" issues. The step was not mentioned in the original loader instructions.

As it turns out, the document at the link you provided is in error.

The earliest version or two of DCS lacked a reset command for either the remote or the TIU (I forget which). Hence the necessity to reset after upgrading rather than before.
