I have been without the ability since last Thanksgiving to playback or record new custom sounds. This feature did work at one time. I have some already recorded but cant get them to play. A phone call to MTH was not much help at all. I spoke to a tech who tried to talk me through it over the phone. We tried to reset the TIU but that made no difference. I had him stumped. He wanted a day or two to discuss it with some other techs and promised to call me back. Well guess what......I am still waiting for that call. Fast forward to today. I tried to do a record/playback session and could not get it to work. Once again, I have done this before and it seemed to work fine. I guess I should call MTH again, but I am not very confident that they will be able to help. The last 5 calls to MTH over different issues have all gone unresolved because someone over there promises to call me back and I never get a call back. I hope some of you guys can help me out. Thank you in advance.

I believe resetting the TIU just wiped out your recordings. I think they;re stored in the tiu.I tried it just a while ago using the remote mic and made 2 recording that played back just fine. I'll try a MP3 later, Menu/Sound/Custom sounds/record sound/Dcs Remote dispatch/ available time showed up/ Press REC to start recording/ I then used the mic on the remote/ STP stopped the secession/ Save/ you can name the secession and hit the "D" for done. Ok recording is finished and saved. NOw to play it' Menu/ sound/custom sounds/Play sound/ and away it goes. If you hit play sound again the secession stops. Anyway this is the way it worked here, Why don't you start over, Reset the tiu and delete the recording you have listed in the remote. Menu/ Sound/Custom sounds/EDIT sound/delete a sound/ , hope this helps, It's kind of similar to the record/playback in the Advanced menu. I know Walt has a handle on this, maybe he'll show up. |

Once their recorded, Could this be the issue of the remote being in speed mode? Was that fixed in 4.02A? I think I had to take mine out of speed mode to use the recordings. Joe

Hi Joe, Good idea . I tried it with the remote in speed mode& it works. There must be something else going on.

Gregg, you know I told that to an older posting but on the third playback it would not go. So I took it out of speed mode as he suggested in his post, and it immediately playedback?, Joe

Good point Joe, I actually never use speed mode for setting things up such as adding engines, tiu, recording etc. I like to know if there are errors, With speed mode you never know what's up. Just my opinion.

By the way, I am still using version 3.1. What is speed mode?

Hi jini5,
Speed mode is a new feature of the V4.02 software that changes the way the remote and TIU communicate. The fact that you haven't upgraded actually eliminates a lot of possible suggestions. Try plugging the remote into the TIU with a 4-wire telephone handset cord and see if anything changes. When you did the TIU reset did you select "feature reset" or "factory reset?" If you did a factory reset Gregg is correct, your existing recordings should have been deleted. Other than the custom sounds do things run properly? Dave |

Jini5,
I had mixed results when recording and playing back sounds with version 3 software and I stopped using this record/playback feature. But, when I installed version 4 the record/playback feature worked like a charm! If you do update to version 4, be sure to turn Speed Mode off (to allow playback of what you record). Tom P. S. Before you update, check out the changes in version 4 features on MTH's site to make sure you know what to expect. TCA 08-62769 |
