I suppose I should have asked this question before I bought the TMCC unit, but does it make any difference which version (age) of the TMCC unit and/or can you upgrade them like you can DCS?

I bought a old/new TMCC that was manufactured in 1995, but never used.

I only plan on using DCS with my system, and just needed the TMCC to control one Lionel engine I just bought. Is there anything I should be concerned about or will need to do with the TMCC before it will work?

My TMCC, purchased around the same time, 1995, works well with DCS. As far as I know there are no TMCC upgrades. DCS found my engines when I set them up and I don't use my TMCC remote at home, ever :-) Enjoy the DCS!

Actually, DCS does not "find" TMCC units. The remote just accepts the data you enter. You don't even need a TMCC command base or even have the TIU powered to enter TMCC engines.
