I would like to thank everyone who contributes to the DCS section. Although I don't post here, I often read it for tips on DCS installation. Yesterday I ws able to set up DCS on my layout, as well as an AIU with 5 switches hooked up! Without this forum, I wouldn't of been able to do it.

Alex,
You will love DCS. I might have to hook up an AIU too now.

The AIU is great but you have to wire the switches and accessories pretty carefully because the wire slots are so close together.

Alex, I added DCS a little over a year ago. I continually had problems with the SC2's and my switches. Using DCS I have 25 switches and 5 accessories hooked up to AIU's and have never had a problem. I run Legacy along side DCS and have the best of both worlds. Although I am waiying for my Legacy to be upgraded.

Have fun with DCS!

I would like to add Legacy down the road after all the kinks are out of it. How easy is it to install after DCS is running. Do you only have to connect the one TIU Legacy cable?

Alex, there are several earlier posts which explain how this is accomplished.

Here is a quote from Dave Hikel from a post on May 28, 2008.It explains it pretty well.

The latest version of the TIU/TMCC cable includes modifications that allow the TIU to talk to either the CB-1 (original TMCC) or CB-2 (Legacy). The hook-up is about as easy as it gets. Plug the end marked "TIU" into the serial port on the TIU and the end maker "TMCC" into the Lionel command base. DONE! You can then add and run any TMCC or Legacy engine in TMCC mode from the DCS remote.

If you're running both the CB-1 and CB-2 you can use the Y-cable that comes with Legacy and plug the MTH cable into the leg marked "serial."

Hope this helps.

I am currently running TMCC Cab 1, Legacy and DCS all with a cable supplied from Mizel's in Colorado.

Good luck!

Jeff

This Forum is required reading for me every day. I also enjoy reading some great information from some great people. To me the OGR Forum is the greatest source of information anywhere.

Hi all,

I'm grateful for this forum every day. In no small part this forum launched me into my current career. I was laid off a few months after 9-11 and was unemployed when DCS hit the market in April 2002. I had DCS on pre-order, picked it up, and started playing with it right away. It was then that I found the forum. Armed with info gleaned here and from my own playing around I became know locally as the guy to ask about DCS. By May I had my first request to re-wire someone's layout. I was eventually re-called to my regular job and kept working on re-wiring (and eventually building new) layouts after hours. Three and half years ago I had the chance to make layout building my full time profession. I haven't looked back since.

So, to the forum and all the people who make it what it is...

Thanks

Dave

Well said Alex, I agree. I try to give back some here but it has been a great place to get info as you go working with PS2.0

Dave --

What a story! Let me observe, though, that your posts are always authoritative and you've given many of us a vast amount of help. Thank you.
