I like it! Is it part of a set and where can you get them?

I have one of those cars. I never got the powered car or the rest of the set - just the one car to display on a shelf. Pretty cool. For now, at least I have my R15 until MTH hopefully makes a "real" one. Is Marx re-releasing it? I got mine 8 or 9 years ago I think.

Ya; Well you have to remember tinplate was not really based on accuracy it was alway's meant to be toy-like. I do have some standard gauge tinplate I run so it would be a cool shelf piece for the right price. Wink

CC; Thanks for the heads-up.

This car is not a original subway car, Original Marx never made a subway car. This is a set that was made by the New Marx Company, now out of business. Jim & debbie Flynn made this set. The set now commands a high price for the set with the add on cars. New Marx also made a tinplate trolley in three colors.

Not a great shot, but you can see my Marx subway on the top shelf here...I always thought the box was real cool too.

trainrector, I was just referring to the late '90s Marx version as being their original release. Just wasn't sure if they had re-released it just now.

Interestingly, original Marx did make a wind-up subway...a complete layout you could say. Wink Big Grin

My Marx R15 is O gauge -same as the one on Ebay. The "Subway Express" I believe is much smaller "toy". From other pics I have seen over the years I would say the train is probably smaller than HO.

I remember seeing a prototype CTA el train back when the new Marx was being sold, it was very nice. I do not think it was ever released. Does anyone else remember it. I,m sure the Flynn's had it at the Wheaton,Illinois train show back in the 90's.

The Marx CTA el train was produced, it came with a set of tresels so it would be a el train. Again, the set commands a high resale price
