Yes, especially since everything Atlas makes is scale, wouldn't it be great if they made 19" 0 Gauge models of the 75 foot long R-44's, R-46's or R-68's ?

I'm told that the Atlas trolley is 1:55 scale. If this is true, then what they make might be scale, but not necessarily 1:48. That's one of the reasons I've not yet purchased any Atlas trolleys. Lee |

The Atlas trolleys are from the Industrial Rail line which they purchased None of these are scale Trainman and Master line are true to scale

I have actually kit-bashed Atlas Comets to fabricate second and third generation Cleveland rapid transit cars. Currently have some sacrificial Comets lined up to become Philadelphia Orange Line Broad Street and Toronto T-1 subway cars.

I'm in for a set. Atlas would probably do a great job on that.
I would hope for a partnership with MTH to put Proto-2; but I won't hold my breath. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - You must take the A train To go to Sugar Hill way up in Harlem. https://www.tmbmodeltrainclub.com |

Lionel's contract with the New York MTA runs though 2011, So Atlas which does things right won't be doing any of these subway cars if they can't put the MTA logos on them.

Ed I don't think Lionels contract is an exclusive Atlas does the Metro North cars with the MTA logo on it |

I would say pretty much everything already made by MTH and Lionel, with programming for DCS or TMCC. A division cars could be R15, R33/36, R142, R62. B division would be BMT Triplex, those 5 section articulateds that ran on the Canarsie Line, R16, R10, R27/30, R42, R44/46, R68, R160. The original IRT Gibbs cars would be nice too.

well im assuming since MTA logos were used on the Comets Atlas has some sort of licensing agreement with the MTA as well correct?

Well, R62s are already done - albeit very underpowered, and the R142s are on the way so I would scratch those off the list. As much as I would like to see Atlas do a subway, at this point I don't see if its worth it if it doesn't have DCS.

Actually, I'd like to see some of the work equipment, like crane cars, flat cars, and locomotives. Also, maybe Atllas or someone could make El sections. I'm fairly certain it would be possible to make prefab plastic sections that can be assembled, the only problem might be cost.

Atlas had originally did the Metro-North Cars before the New York MTA decided that they wanted a lisencing agreement with the model train industry. Atlas now has a license but only to sell this model of MTA car. Lionel's license states an exclusive to sell subway cars, railroad mu cars and trackside acessories in O gauge. Life Like has the license to sell subway cars in HO scale and N scale if they desire. There is also a company that sells MTA Subway, Long Island Railroad, and Metro-North Cars in wood and they have the exclusive license for the wooden train cars. Other companies can make these cars but can't display the MTA, Long Island Railroad, or Metro-North name or logo on their cars. Back in 2000 the former K-line Company sold their F7 diesel in Metro-North and Long Island Railroad road names without a license. When Atlas gets though the EMD F series engines they plan to do the FP7, FP9, and FL9 engines so we can finally have an FL9 in New Haven, Penn Central, Conrail, MTA, Amtrak, and Metro-North roadnames.

well if were gonna come out with Comet II's yet again can they at least be in the rebuilt paint scheme for NJT this time, or add some center doors to the model, to model III or IV's. Septa/CTDOT/MNRR/NJT all have trains that consist of Center Door Comets & Shoreliners

Yes, I would like to see Atlas come out with some new subway items. The more in the subway market the better.
