Anybody operating the Metro-North or LI M-7 cars, you may want to be aware that the thin copper strips used to provide grounding on each axle are easily bent, and will short out against the wide middle rail on switches.

Also, does the performance of the power car seem a little anemic when running with the two add-on cars?

Yup. It really shows when starting up, not so much when it's cruising (although I haven't really tried it on any significant grades.

Smooth as silk with 6 cars. No problems so far.
No problems with Gargraves switches either.
We shall see as time goes on...

It may be that a little lubrication and break-in will fix the problem. As SIRT said, "We shall see as time goes on...."
