Chances are they are all going to be within a reasonable amount of each other. I strongly suggest you pick someone local that can help you out with it if you have a problem. I learned a very good lesoon early on when I bought a couple sets from various places because I was able to save a few bucks.

1. Had to pay shipping.
2. Had to wait for it to arrive.
3. Had problems and dealer was of no help.
4. Would have had to pay to ship back to mfr. to get repaired.

Charlie at Nassau Hobbies helped me out with them and I didn't even buy them there. I now buy 90% of my motive power there. Have already had several items that had to back for repair since, and it was a lot easier to walk in there and hand him the engine than try and ship it to an out of town dealer or hastle with the mfr. direct.

There's also something real nice about being able to walk into an actual train store to pick something up when you want to. Stores are closing everywhere becuase of the big on-line superstores and places like Ebay. Not going to be real fun if we reach the point that there are no local stores to walk into. Frown

I ordered mine from Nassau Hobby - $240 + $73 for the 2-car add-on pack. I received the add-on set, the M7 should be coming in soon.

If you're in Brooklyn then you might as well pick them up at Trainworld - it's a pain getting there with traffic though.

Hey Tony. Shipping for the add-on pack came out to $8. The M7 set should ship for around $12 or so - I haven't been charged for it yet.

No, I haven't gotten the R-36s yet - they're just too expensive. $600 for a used set is too much and what they're asking for them on eBay is just plain insane.

Trainworld has them in stock? Still waiting on mine from Nassau Hobby - hope they come in soon.

Yes, they do look sharp in this color scheme. I like their look - much better than the Metro North scheme in my opnion.

Hey boys over the many years of buying electric trains I have decided at least one thing, the price I've paid for any item is secondary to the convience of going to the closest dealer to me and the way customers are treated at the store. When I used to visit family in Brooklyn, NY I purchased most of the trains at Train World. I always received good customer service from Paul, Aleen, Anthony, Joan, and the other staff members.

Now that my family memebers no longer live in Brooklyn I purchase my trains in Ardsley, NY from Tom's Trains near where I live. Tom is one of the nicest people I've met in a long time. He always takes time to explain to customers how any item they purchase works. He is also flexible with the price. He can usually match other dealers prices if asked. I've known Tom for 9 years and hope to continue buying from him for a long time to come.

Tom just told me that in September he will become a Lionel Service Station for product manufactured in the past 10 years.

Even though I live in NYC, 90% of the stuff that I buy I order from Jim's Trains. He has a huge selection, is without a doubt the nicest guy you could possibly meet, and if you ever have any problems, he will help you regardless as to how long it takes and it doesn't matter whether or not you bought the item from him - he will still help you. The items that I don't buy from him are those that he no longer has in stock and can't get, old engines, or something from Lionel he doesn't carry.

I don't like traveling to Trainworld because of the traffic - it can be an absolute nightmare driving there from Staten Island - Brooklyn's famous double and triple-parking situation does not help. Also, I've ordered things from them only to be told within a day or two that they don't have it. So now I just order online from Jim's, Nassau Hobby, and Just Trains. I don't have to drive anywhere, the product is delivered to my door, and if there's a problem (in Jim's case), I can ship it back to him and he will take care of it. Simplicity without the pain. I used to go alot to Island Trains when they were here on SI, but they sold their building, moved to a smaller location, and finally closed the store and are now in NJ. Sometimes, the situation just doesn't help matters.
