I don't think you need to worry about that. We haven't even seen any sign of a prototype sample. All their energy has gone into getting the R11s ready, which we saw very close to finished samples of at York in April, and those still aren't expected to ship until September.

I don't know how MTH comes up with these ship dates - I think they just spin a calendar and throw darts at it. Right now, none of the vendors I've talked to have any idea as to when the R142s will ship - some say next year. After all, I believe these were supposed to ship in 2007 - 2 years and counting...

keep counting,it will be awhile.btw about the M7 LIRR,they are the same exact set as the METRO NORTH,except for just 2 things, the LIRR has a yellow stripe in the frount and costs double.the METRO NORTH set was 200$,so anybody who got this set was getting a good deal, now LIONEL wants to recoup or charge twice as much for the same exact set. Mad

Actually, the LIRR M7 is selling for $240 at Nassau Hobby - which is a very good deal (I ordered one). Not much more than the MN set - but it does look nice.

What's really hysterical is that some knuckleheads on eBay are selling the MN sets for $300 and $400 while you can easily can get them at dealers for around $205. Now THAT'S FUNNY! Big Grin

Actually I thought they changed the number placement and a couple other things to make them correct for LIRR. The catalog pic was wrong, but reports said they fixed those items. Not just a straight duplicate with a yellow stripe.

I'd say someone forgot to update the R142 entry on the ship schedule. I'd get the Lionel set--there's still plenty of time to save for the other set, since (redacted)
