Here's a little project that I could not resist starting despite not having much free space in the shop.

Picked up a Bowser mechanism for a Birney and took a Dremel cut-off wheel to it.

Then used my resin castings for the ends and the sides are just built up from scribed siding and scale stripwood. Roof is 2 pieces of cove molding glued together and then shaped with a 4-in-hand and the belt sander. Body and roof as a unit drops right onto the mechanism frame and all that's needed now are all the finishing touches and details.

Looking good, mwb! Be sure to share some photos of the finished model with us. What color(s) is she going to sport?

I'll be back in a few days/weeks with an update on the construction aspect.

Color - probably something drab when its all done. Sides - A faded & streaked boxcar red, D&H caboose red with a lot of weathering since this will be a work trolley of sorts. Black canvas tarred roof. Ends could be a pullman green. It'll get lettered up as a CG&W Rwy car when it's all finished.

Ok, took me longer than I thought - August was surprisingly busy...

Anywhoos....got most of the detail parts installed, roof platform installed, pole mounted, and the main body painted with some interior controls and vestibules and glazing in place. The roof platform is also stained grey, but the rest of the roof gets "tarpapered" and after more painting, staining and tarring, a few more roof details get added. Resin ends are tapped from underneath for mounting to the mechanism and there are a few underbody parts to add at each end, too.
