That's 4 instead of 8. Just noticed that only the inner wheels on both trucks are moving my R-17. The idler gears are so loose that the outer wheels are actually slipping. Are there any fixes for this? Repair parts?? I hear this prematurely worn idler gear is quite common on the R-17's. It's not like this is a 50 year old train. Does anyone else find this unacceptable?

I had the same thing on an R26 I believe its from a lack of lubrication and the bearings wear out. I replace the truck with one from a junker

I think it's too common a problem to be a simple lubrication issue.

I had a problem with my Yankee R17 getting the gears binding after only one run around my Christmas loop. Truck had to be replaced.
