This line was originally part of the BRT system and predated the subway extensions. In the BRT days, service was from downtown Brooklyn with connection over the Brooklyn Bridge to the Nrooklyn beaches along the long gone Fulton Street El and the present Brighton line . Near the Southern end of the Franklin Shuttle is the site of the famous Malbone street wreck . Today, the Q and the D lines run on the Brighton line from Coney Island to Manhattan amd the Bronx.
