I'm new to this Forum but I am very interested in obtaining certain of the MTH NYC subway models; having grown up in a Philadelphia suburb I rode the Market-Frankford EL and was always amased by these cars. My question, why such a large gap between cars on the R-40 sey but not so on the BMT 2500 series. Also, any thoughts on which set to acuire first.
Thanks

Tony

Welcome aboard! Big Grin

The sets came with varied size couplers. The R1s were the best coming with the short couplers on right out of the box. Back to the early subways like the R21s they had real long couplers for tight curves. A replacement coupler can be ordered from MTH to tighten up the spacing. Part # is DD-4000005 and I think they are $3 ea. Shipping was like $6 regardless of order size so try and order them all at once. I forget for sure, but there may be a shorter coupler in the box for the R40s. Anyone remember?

As far as which set to get first...whichever one comes your way I guess. Also depends on which you like best.
