Hi, Guys.

Thanks for the comments regarding the pictures. They were taken during '84 and '85. I did just about all my work along the 1,2 and 5 Lines as I got busy once the initial stainless steel cars were being placed in service on the 6 Line.

It's unfortunate MTA got upset regarding MTH's intentions to release models with graffiti. While not one of the TA's finer periods, it is still an essential chapter of New York City subway history. I don't think irreperable damage would have been done to the agency's image because of the models. If anything, when compared to models of contemporary equipment, they would show just how much progress the TA has made since then. Here are a few more shots:

I hope you enjoy these additional pictures.

Ben:

The Newark City Subway was a favorite of mine. I spent a great deal of time documenting the final years of PCC operation along the line. I ended up with four two hour VHS cassettes by the time I was done. I should probably convert them to DVD.

Hi Bob
Eight of the PCC cars are in storage by the Hudson Bergen Light Rail shops in Jersey City. They are slated for use in the developement of the Marine terminal in Bayonne. The plan is to run them from the Bayonne light ail station down the length of the marine terminal to the cruise ships. They are developing the matine terminal for housing

Marc
They are definitely going to save an R40 slant for the museum

MCD4X4:

I'm with you. That's exactly how I remember the system during my formative years. These cars are an undeniable part of subway lore. It wasn't a pretty chapter but one which deserved documentation. That's why I got out and photographed this equipment once word spread the R62's were about to begin entering service on the Pelham Line.

I believe I have some shots of cars in somewhat presentable white paint. I'll have to go through them and post a few.

Regards,

Bob

That is hot! It has a real old skool look to it. Did you use paint markers? I been thinking about doing the same thing but something about spending that much on the train and then lowering its value makes me feel uneasy. What do you write? Do you have any flix?
