I am thinking about a couple of subway sets I may be looking for at York but I was wondering if I might have a problem running it on my elevated 0-36 line? Thanks

its an iffy thing. I have an R1 that i ran on 036 fast track, and one of the cars would always derail. I figured out it was something with the way the wires were attached to the truck, and managed to adjust it. Now I can run it, but it does look a little odd. Havent run the standards, and I dont have the others. (R38, R40, R11/34). Which sets do you have, and which ones are yu thinking of getting?

I only have the red LO-V right now I'm a newbie as far as subway motive power but I like the R40 because it's kind of different. I have a 0-72 loop which I know won't be a problem but I kind of reserved my Fastrack elevated loop for subway traffic.

036 is ok for Rk sets, for the others you would do well to go to 048 for fast track (They really made it too **** wide). I plan to use Atlas track for a 2 track el, as it comes on 045 and 054. some of the guys have the ladrger sets, so they will get on here soon enough

Sno - The R27 set seemed to work fine on MTH 031 curves and that is what I did when I first received this set and then one day a wire broke to the truck on one of the cars. Was it because of the 031 curves? I don't know, but Lionel states 036 minimum for this set. Currently I am running the R27 on Lionel fastrack with just two 036 curves. I notice that the power car does slow a bit on the curves so 031 would really be pushing it even more. When the set was new it seemed to take the curves slighly better. Maybe I need to replace the traction tires soon.

My 2 cents worth is stick to what the Mfg. states and you will probably have less problems. The problem is I don't always listen to my own advise. Roll Eyes
