Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train emerging from tunnel in Weehawken.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two HBLR trains meet on Hudson Street, between Harsimus Cove and Harborside stations.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HBLR train southbound on Essex Street, Jersey City. Buildings in lower
Manhattan, across the Hudson River, are visible behind the train.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abandoned former Hudson & Manhattan Railroad (later PATH) power plant in
Jersey City. With the HBLR nearby, the building will probably become expensive
condos or apartments as soon as the housing market turns around.

Enjoy,
Lee

While out in Sacramento last week for the LCCA Convention got some pictures of the cable cars and street cars over in Frisco.

Hey Bill, I hope you went to the Cable Car Museum. they showed the catual cables that move the cars, among other things. (was last there about 3 years ago) It was enjoyable, except for having to actually push a cable car through a turn. I love riding the PCC cars on the F line too. Frisco has a lot of transportation history. Too bad they weren't as appreciative of their naval history...

Guys, if you ever plan on going to San Francisco again,
and making friends with the people who work for MUNI or
are members of Market Street Railway (non-profit), remember
to NEVER call the city "Frisco". It's considered
an insult. And you don't want to insult people who might be
able to get you a shop, carbarn or restoration yard tour.
Or who maybe would offer you a ride on one of the deadhead
trips of the historic cars.

To quote Ogden Nash,
"May I be boiled in oil and fried in Crisco,
If ever I call San Francisco, Frisco"

That yellow cable car (No. 15) is the newest in the fleet, having gone
into service less than 2 months ago, in early June. Yes, MUNI still
builds new cable cars.

Here's an article about the new car:

Pretty nice pics everyone. What a great way to start the week-end after the tough rainy commute of this week. The PATH went dead for about 4 hours, however not quite as bad as the black out we had one summer, some years back when I got back home at 4 a.m.

I did make it over to the cable car museum. Watching the apparatus that pulls the cable cars throughout Frisco was amazing. They also had some nice exhibts
in the museum.

All of them were shot in Hoboken. You can see the train sheds in a few of them
