Sunday Greetings!

This week's reading takes me to Baku subway in Azerbaijan, one of the oldest in Russia. Be sure to check the featured Week End Pickerupper song.

I love architecture, partly because my father talked a lot about it when I was growing up. I am particularly fascinated by the architecture of some of the metro stations of Baku, pictures of which, (all in the public domain), I would like to share with you:

Nizami Station:

Yanvar Station:

Elmlyar Academiyasy Station:

Khalglar Dostlugu Station:

Ahmedli Station:

Watch – Old Baku trolley:
This poor old car (looks like a PCC) is definitely very tired. It's amazing to see how many people make free use of the rails right in front of the trolley! I like to hear the sound of its horn -seems hoarse from telling the trespassers to get out of the way.

Have a great and wonderful week! Prairie

Lyrics highlights:

“My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're alseep
And kiss you when you start your day”

wow, those stations are breathtaking!!We could never have anything so spectacular here in NYC. Those trolleys look wounded though. That PCC look a like had me laughing, because it sounded like it was fed up with the conditions. "land of the rolling dead" it looked it. poor thing.

I am glad I was able to share with you all, the beauty of these stations. Thanks for your nice comments.

Bluelinec4, it is fortunate that some people on this earth are able to share their photos for us to look at. Some would rather take their possessions to the grave, be it photos, houses etc, and say "I am lord and master of these items". It is their choice and when it comes to proprietorship of material, I know in my line of work, of people who get nasty about this, - right down to lawsuit time.

Life is so short, it's not worth pondering about copyrighted material.
Please put all of this behind you. I would like you to kick this side of the forum a notch. Please post pictures of your club's activities, the open house pics, the wonderful layouts that you SHARE with others in your club for us to see. I, for one particularly liked to read about your trip out with your grandson!

Common bluelinec4, let's rock this side of the forum and share the pics of the NJHirailers events! I am heading back to bed! Watch me run for the train in a few hours....

Looking forward to seeing them,

Here is a pic (ok to use Big Grin) of Russia's metro that you might enjoy:

Those stations are not only beautiful but look at how well they are maintained. They are spotless. No loose tiles, no broken bulbs etc.

As for our pics We are in the process of updating our website and I will be displaying many pics in the near future that are not copyrighted and wish everybody enjoys them Stay tuned.
