Home Depot and Lowe's don't list everything on their sites - you have to go to the store and look.

Bob what would the reflective tape be used for with your set?

Stevin - It reflects the heat from the light bulbs away from the roofs. Some of the early sets suffered from bubbled roofs due to insufficient or completely missing heat reflective tape on the inside of the roofs.

I used several rolls Relectix tape to seal the seams while installing insulation on my underfloor hydronic heating in my new home. I ordered it online and have since seen it in variety of places, including the "big box" home centers and the ACE, TrueValue & DoItBest hardware stores. Do a Google search of "reflectix", "reflective tape", reflective insulation and you should find it online. It's not very expensive and a roll goes a long way. You don't need real metal tape; it's expensive and hard to work with. All you need is the "relective" quality of this tape. It sticks very well and is easy to work with. I've saved my leftover tape to use on the layout in a variety of places (anywhere you want to reflect light or simulate flate shiny metal

Having yet to run my Redbird train (I did get the heat-shield tape from MTH, just haven't installed them yet), I wonder if anyone has tried retrofitting the MTH subway cars with LED lights? Less heat, and fluorescent (white) interior lighting is prototypical for the "R" series cars.

In a pinch, aluminum foil & scotch tape do the trick. I did that the last time I had one open for a battery change

I found a roll of Reflectix at our little 'ol neighborhood hardware store this morning, so I'm in business. Should have checked there in the first place. Small footprint, floor-to-ceiling shelves, narrow aisles, old wooden uneven floors from years of wear; not too many of these gems around anymore.
