Finally got through all the pics from the Lo-V and SMEE Train of many colors trip...
Early in the morning the SMEE's sit in the yard before the trip...

Train heads to Grand Central for the start of the trip...

Train picks up the fans at Grand Central...

Lo-Vs await the arrival of the SMEEs at Gun Hill Rd...

SMEE's approach Gun Hill Rd...

Lining up for the race. Wink

They're off! Big Grin

3 Generations of Trains! Big Grin

The return run...

Lo-Vs at Gun Hill Rd on the 5 line...

After being blocked by a Northbound Local,Frown the Lo-V heads south at Morris Park...

Northbound crossing over Boston Post Road...

...and the southbound return. Less than two minutes earlier I had a great clear shot before that fake U-Haul truck pulled up. Mad

SMEEs head south at Jackson Ave on the 2 line...

Took a chance and guessed that the SMEEs would eventually return to the Yard via the 2 line so hung out for a couple hours at East Tremont Ave. My gamble paid off... Big Grin

Back at rest in yard...

Despite another wet day, it was a lot of fun. Big Grin

Chris, thanks for the great photos of my old stomping grounds. Having lived near Boston Road and Gun Hill Road I had the option of taking either the No. 2 or 5 trains on my way to Cardinal Hayes HS.(Even the old 3rd Ave El got me to a hun' fourty ninth. If I recall correctly the city actually reversed the numbers on those lines sometime in the '60s.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the 3 different types of
trains on the el, near each other.
