I put my usual 1000 in, lets see what happens. I did lose one of those globes that went for 1025.00. Hoo Boy, who woulda thought??? With that in mind, I was surprised to see two globes only go for 636.00
That M is sweet, but knowing Brian doesn't mess around when he want something, I don't think I could afford $1100 for it.
I don't get it, I didn't get my reminder e-mail from Ebay on those globes. Always thought the s didn't matter - but in this case I guess it did. globeS! Doh! I got something last week I'm surprsed got missed by many. I'll post pics later.
I saw what you won for 330.00. lol em watching you! It was kind of nice but I didn't like the description. The scanned signs and Plexiglas etc. I'll wait for one like your first one. It's worth the 1100-1500 for one in mint shape.

LOL! I figured you had to see it. I actually put in a pretty low bid, and never expected to win. The description scared me a bit too, but it's not as bad as it sounded, although I haven't tried to open it yet. It's actually pretty secure, but as I said, who knows once I open it. I don't even think the pics did a good job of representing it. Between the pics and description I expected to pick up a fragile pile of rusted, broken iron and a couple pieces of glass. Not the case.
Worst part of the deal was trying to get home from Brooklyn after picking it up. Don't know what was going on, but it took like 3 hours to get from Brooklyn near the Verrazano to Westchester. The best thing about that was I ended up coming across something else very interesting that made up for the miserable ride home. Stay tuned... Pics coming.
How do you know that these are "original" MTA/NYCTA globes/shields? If you don't know the seller, I suspect that they could also be very cheap reproductions.
Today, everything like American flags is probably "made in China", for a few pennies (and the seller gets the rest of your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$). www.njhirailers.com
Wow, that's just stupid. I can't imagine anyone would pay that for that sign. It's not even interesting looking. I thought I had reached the end of crazy when within a few weeks I spent a ridiculous amount on the original BMT globe, the R9 side roll sign, and $700 on the World's Fair sign. At least the WF sign had two WF cars and the globe painted on it. It was crazy, but I'm still happy with all 3 of those purchases.
Chris, I'm still on a roll here. I have to post some pictures too. I've been picking up a lot of stuff. I just got the last part, a green lens for my IRT signal from the MARIO Brothers. I can put that one together and hang it now.
Do you think they will let me have all this sh%# in the loony bin? Hummm, I wonder if I can get a private room there. I hate people (other nuts) finger printing up my stuff!
