Does anyone know if the MTH R-17 4-CAR SUBWAY SET W/PROTOSOUND 2.0 30-2392-1, Redbird, has a 5 volt or a 3 volt soundboard? The reason I am asking is I am trying to "upgrade" a Locosound R-36 World's Fair train by putting the R-36 shell on a protosound 2 motorized car from another set. I bought an R-12 "1" train (the white one), which was only one year newer than the R36, but it had a 3 volt sound board. I see that the R-17 Redbird, however, has a sound file that includes the letters "PP5", which I understand is for a 5 volt board, even though it is newer than the R-12 "1" train. I really want to be sure that the R-17 Redbird has a 5 volt board before I make any more block head moves with this train.

What really would be be great is if there was some way to either edit the sound files, or convert the 5 volt files to 3 volts.

Anyway, any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Barry.

I was afraid the R-17 has a 3 Volt board given when it was made. What confused me was the sound file for the R-17 from the MTH website (R032PP5R17REDrevrs040323bFIN.mth)has a "PP5".
Doesn't that mean that it's for a 5 volt board?

So, am I correct that the only PS2 subways with 5 volt boards are the R-21 Redbird #2 Train, the R-32 N Train, the R-17 Silver with blue stripe #5 Train, and the R-36 World's Fair #7 Train? Am I missing any?
