Hi all,

I didn't have any luck with this in the 3 rail section so I thought I'd move it over here. I know there are some LIRR experts out there!

I noticed that in O-gauge, MTH and 3rd Rail sell the Long Island MU or P-54 combine with ten windows and a roomy baggage compartment. HO brass, my own recollections, and all the prototype pictures I can find, both arch roof and clerestory, show 13 windows and a smaller baggage compartment, with the big baggage door butted up against the first window. Is the MTH and 3rd Rail version an earlier configuration? Did the LIRR expand the passenger compartment at some point?

Your O-scale wish list definitely gets my seal of approval, especially the first few items. I never saw a ping without porthole window cut-outs before, as in your first pic - real cool. Now if you only had a combine on that list!!!

Brutal is right! I remember once being in the last car on the way back from Patchogue. We always seemed to get #1556 for a loco. Well our coach was bouncing up and down so hard I was amazed it was able to stay on the track!
