I started collecting these late and so far have the R-1s, Standards, LO-Vs, R-40s, Q-types, and I've got the R-11s on order.

Can anyone provide a complete listing of all of the MTH NYC subway offerings? I'd really appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

go to http://www.mth-railking.com , hit the product locator in the upper right corner, then type "Subway" in the description slot. All the subway sets made or contemplated at this time will come up. this can also help you locate places you can purchase them, f they are available. Hope this helps.

Excellent! I had tried doing an advance product search with the words subway and NYC, etc, but couldn't get anything. Thanks!

If you don't feel like tangling with MTH's site, I have a list here...

NYC Subway Models

It includes model, route, color, manufacturer stock number, year released, and in some cases a picture. Still need to complete the pics section.

If you go to this page: Model vs. Prototype and click on the Model name, it will take you to MTH's page for that model. Click on the real train and it will go to pics of the prototype from nycsubway.org, and click on the model pic and it will go to pics of the models if available. I need to work on that part still.

Yes, I had found this link (bookmarked it) and used the photos to figure out which sets I wanted. Thanks for the info! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the list! I just bought the white R12s, red R17s, R26s, R42s, and R62s - all with their respective add-on sets. Since MTH lost their MTA license to Lionel, they can't re-issue the R36 World's Fair train with the TA logo, correct? If so, I've got the most rotten timing as I'd like to get the R21s, R32s, and R36s to round out my collection. Oh well.

That's some buying spree NYC Steeler! Very cool. Isn't there a set of the WF cars on Ebay now? Not sure what it's up to, but it seemed to be staying reasonable compared to what it had been going for a coule years ago.

I'd say the R1s and R36s are a toss up for my favorites. Y9ou're right though, if MTH does re-issue the R36s or better yet does a set of R33s in World's Fair colors, at this point they can't use the logo. Hopefully that will eventually change, especially since it aseems pretty clear Lionel is never going to use it. Roll Eyes If not, they are pretty easy to do yourself either as stickers like Brian (mcd4x4) does, glued on paper which I think Steve (SIRT) does or decals which I plan to use. See Run 237 of OGR if you need any tips on that. Wink

Yeah, I went kinda nuts buying all the subway sets I didn't have - now I have to find a way of hiding them from the wife as they come in by UPS because I'll never hear the end of it. I missed getting the R-36s because I decided to use the "one click bid" button rather than my tried-and-true method of bidding, then confirming on the next page - the one click didn't work, my page was delayed and I missed the R-36s by a matter of seconds. They went for $475 - I probably could've gotten them for around $500 or so. Oh well. There's still some lunatic at Moe's Train House on eBay selling them for $1000 (down from $1500 I think) - yeah, like they're going to sell at that price! I believe there was an mcd4x4 on eBay selling some add-ons for around $340 or so - could be wrong.

As for the stickers/decals, I'm good with PhotoShop - the main problem is getting a good pic of the various old TA logos. I'll stop by the NY Transit Museum and take pics of the logos, signs, etc. and use them as necessary. I saw your article re the decals [very nice btw - congrats on 10 years of wedded bliss(?)] - didn't know about the special laser paper though - will pick some up. Thanks for the tips. My quest for the WF R-36s continues...

Thanks. I like the TA logo, but the silver MTA logos are not too good - they're dark grey. I found this on another site:

Here's the TA logo:

Hello All,
Here is a link to the decal page:

http://islandmodelworks.com/subwaydecals.html

For the record, the decals have a metallic silver background, just like the real things, not a dark gray as shown in the picture. That picture is directly from the artwork and that's just how the color appears.

Take care,
Joe

Here's a picture taken of the actual set:

You can see that the silver is lighter, it doesn't show the metallic very well, it's there and looks great. The decal itself is slightly different, we are almost out of the originals and made a new run, this is how they will appear once the originals are gone.
