Are there any issues regarding the trucks on the R-17's? I have one car which has the wobbliest idler gear I've ever seen, yet it still runs. It's so loose I'm wondering if I could shove a retaining clip in there somehow. Any fixes?

I've had multiple versions of the MTH R17 and have never had a problem with any of them. If you didn't buy it new, you got someone else's problem (much like a used car). Otherwise, you got a real oddball. Wink

Yes - unfortunately several incarnations of the R17 suffered from loose gears on their trucks. My Yankee R17 made one trip around my small Christmas loop before the gears suffered from binding and brought it to a halt. Had to go back to the dealer for repair. I have several I have yet to run, so I am sure more repairs are in my future. Frown

A-HA !!! You can definitely hear it grinding while running. Looks like I'll be buying new trucks in the future. Both trucks have loose idler gears. Has anyone repaired their trucks? Can the stud be removed so a small bushing can be inserted?
