Hey everyone,

I am new on this board, but I have been meodeling O scale traction on & off for about 9 years. Serving in the military poses a few challenges, but not insurmountable ones. I have also volunteered at the Shoreline & Seashore Trolley museums, but now my current assignment has me in Virginia & it is a LONG drive to Connecticut, let alone Maine. Currenly I have a small modular layout with no specific prototype. My goal is to concentrate on a few traction companies: Third Avenue Railway, Connecticut Co, Red Arrow, North Shore Line & Brooklyn.

Here is a shot of the train as it stands now

Here is a shot of the combine after painting the roof
I have not figured out how to post pictures yet so here is a link to the whole album of the layout & some of the fleet:

Enjoy,

Good to have you Steve. Always like to see a new member in this section. I'm also a member of Shoreline. About a 2 hour drive so I don't get there often, but I was just there for the Pageant of Trolleys. Pics are posted in a thread a few lines down on this board.

Posting pics on this board is pretty easy - especially since you are already on Flickr. Re-sizing your pics to a max width of 800px works best, but you can use the 500 px version Flickr provides. On the pic you want, you can select all sizes. Then select the 500px width one and you will get a URL at the bottom of the page that starts with http:// (and ends most likely with) .jpg Copy that address and click on the picture icon above in the reply post box - It's the icon with the green mountain 2nd from the right. Paste the address in there, and it will show up like your below...

Thanks for the help Chris, Lee also directed me to another thread that had photo posting directions. I was up for the pageant as well, I was the guy chasing two small kids around and teaching them about streetcars. I even had them swing the pole on Union Rwy 316 which they really enjoyed.

Hey! Another North Shore guy! Cool

I like those cars, who made them? Oh, and one minor nitpick... On the North Shore, combines ran baggage end out as the first or last car of a train. Just a suggestion. Wink

Anyway, welcome to the forum! Smile

Zach,
How can anyone NOT like the North Shore Line??? My profile picture was taken while operating North Shore Line coach #420 at Seashore. You are 100 % right, I just put them on the layout that way. The combine usually leads, baggage door first! The cars are by William Clouser/All Nation Hobby Shop. The are long out of production, you might contact Ed Skuchas at the Berkshire Car Shop if you are looking for some. Clouser only made the Jewett coaches (165-170), the combines and one of the dining cars (these are very rare). Here is Ed's website:

Berkshire car shop

I have started detailing the exterior of the combine, photos will follow later....

Alright, before I dive in and call him, I've got 2 questions for ya:

1) Were they a kit or RTR?

2) Whats the price of one car?

Thanks

Zach,
I wouldnt call it a kit, more like a body and floor. I used Q-car trucks and finishing kit. If I remember right they were $250 a piece but dont quote me on that. Ed is a great guy to deal with!

Cool! If I do get one, it will be fitted to run on my layout, which is Lionel 3 rail. So I'd just have to put 3 rail trucks on, and a can motor in it, and maybe a TMCC board! Wink I'd probably skip the detail kit, but what kind of poles would I use?

Thanks,
Zach
