Hey all. I need one more volume to complete the set. I am looking for "Narrow Gauge Pictorial" volume X. Keep it in the back of your head when wondering around. I would like it to be new, or at least in good condition, and at a reasonable price. Thanks.

Bruce,

Searching bookfinder.com, I found 2 copies, one at $38.90.

Thanks a lot. I knew this was the place to ask. I never heard of bookfinder. I tried Amazon and came up with one for 137 bucks, that's crazy. I came up with four listings, and did find one for $30.00 with $7.00 shipping. That's what it should go for. It is used, but they claim it shows no sign of previous ownership. We'll see. As long as it is not ripped or all bent up, I'll be happy. Thanks again.

Bruce,

Another source for out-of-print books is Abebooks.com. I've used them for more than ten years and have been happy with their service. I searched for Narrow Gauge Pictorial, author Grandt, and found 34 books, two of them were Volume X.

Thanks Paul. Another good source for books. I have bookmarked both sites for future reference.

In addition to the aforementioned amazon and bookfinder, I've purchased out-of-print NG books from alibris too. I've shot at stuff on ebay, but never scored a trophy.

Don't forget about Ron's Books (www.ronsbooks.com) which deals exclusively in railroad books. I didn't see this specific volume listed in their used books list, but they have one heck of a lot of railroad titles, including a lot of narrow gauge stuff. Ron's advertises regularly in a good number of railroading and model railroading magazines.

Thanks guys. All good places to look. I will put them all in my address file. I ordered the book I want, but have yet to see if it was still in stock. I have not received a confirmation as of yet. Thanks.

Thanks for more places to look for the books that I've been trying to locate and also afford. And, I actually did locate 2 copies of the one, but both were way over anything close to what I'd pay or even what I've seen it sell at other sites, Eek

Ron is a great resource for books as well - very extensive inventory, and great if it's a book that you just have to have and also probably in exceptional condition, but no bargains there! His purchase pricing for re-sale is higher than my buying price from my personal library, Wink

Is it real? Do you see it, too? We all see it. That don't make it real.

It would seem that the web pages are not always updated. It took three attempts, but I finally found someone that actually had the book in stock. It should be on it's way.

I've gotten a lot of stuff from RailPub.com too. Exclusively railroad related, old books, magazines, etc.
