Anyone know anything or have any dealings with Firebox Models? Thinking about ordering one of their On3 Turntable kits.

Mike,

I met the owners at the Narrow Gauge Convention in Portland, Maine, a few years back and purchased a couple of their models. They are quite good. The resin castings are very precise and clean and don't require much cleanup. I haven't looked at their turntable, but I have a very favorable opinion about their rolling stock.

Here's one of their flatcars. I really like the trucks and wish that they would sell them as separates.

Those are either 8 or 10 ton Carter Bros trucks. They can always be identified by the star on the journal lid.

Do you like the style, the performance, or both? I see NWSL wheels in the trucks. Based on their website, I'd bet that those are actually MacLeod Western trucks.

Mike,

I like the style, detail, and performance. The castings were pretty crisp without much cleanup and the brake details is very pleasing. Wish the San Juan trucks did as well ... I still have to tinker with them a little more, but they are much more appropriate to my layout.
