So I'm at my local train store. I'm asking basic questions and getting a lot of "I don't know" answers. Now I'm just getting into this stuff so I really didn't think my questions were too deep. But anyway I buy some track and what not and somehow spend $800.00 It's like Costco you just can't leave without buying something.

Well I keep reading about Jim and his train shop so I call the store to ask about the lionel tin plate stuff just arriving. I get the answering machine as the shop is closed and without leaving a message hang up. I'm really disapointed as I see that Jim is closed on Wed. Now I'm thinking I have to wait until Thursday to see about the new train. Well 2 hours later I get a call from a number I don't recognize. It's Jim! He called back because he noticed I called the store. We talked for a while and you know $800.00 later. . .

I have 70 employees and they just don't make people like Jim anymore! LOL

Jim's a GOOD man! That $800 just may be enough to cover his electric through the holidays. Smile

Yes, Jim is closed on Wednesdays, but he never lets a potential customer go unnoticed--pretty much 24/7. Actually, you were lucky to have gotten away with only $800 spent--he'll get more from you next time! Wink

What tinplate did you buy?

I need to give Jim a call tomorrow, assuming he doesn't read this first and wake me with a call in the middle of the night tonight. Smile

Since it's getting to be the Holiday season another thing Jim is great for is working with our wives/girlfriends/family members who know nothing about trains to make sure they order the correct item! I'm sure many of us have experienced less than stellar service when our significant others try to buy us a train gift....not so with the crew in Homer City!

I am more than likely attending the Greenburg Show in Monroeville (about 5 hour drive for me) and maybe stay the night in Pittsburgh to be able to go to Jim's Train Shoppe. Homer City isn't to far from Monroeville. Hoping to incorporate T&K Hobby Shoppe in Bridgeport, Ohio as I will be driving right.

Have to make a stop at Primanti Brothers, the original one in the old warehouse district in Pittsburgh on my trip. Yum Yum.

Have begun buying MTH Rolling Stock and like it. Stayed away from it for years, but well Lionel offerrings suck anymore so had to open my horizons to other manufactures.

Jim is super and great to talk to on the phone. I placed my Lionel 2009 pre-order with him because of his reputation and he gets my stuff out to me in Oregon fast. I am expecting more items in the next few weeks. Can't wait to get them. HELLO JIMMY.......
