It seems its cheaper to find a TMCC engine than convert a Postwar engine.. BUT I could not believe the price for a Lionel 6-11934 Virginian Rectifier Freight Set on ebay free shipping all for $230.00 ? I saw one go for 175. plus 16.00 shipping ...ARE these engines the same as my GP-& (Burlington etc..) Thanks for the info...DANiel

It's been a while since I looked, but the frame is flat and handrails won't match up to the doors on a GP. Also, it has electric sounds, not diesel sounds.

If you're looking to convert a GP to TMCC you are better off buying a TMCC GP and swapping the shells. I did this to get a command controlled BAR 1776.

I have the set and it is super.
The loco is almost identical to the postwar. However, it has railsounds, and the sounds are great. I love the horn. It "ramps up" nicely. Especially if you have Legacy and and put it on high momentum. The sounds it makes as it slowly starts moving are neat.
