I asked MTH { I`m a Club Member } what upcoming STEAMERs would have the New Technoligy of the === Proto-Whistle === Proto-Bell ===. They didn`t have any schedule for the PROTO-WHISTLE , PROTO-BELL ,but did mention that the [ J ] [ TRIPLEX ] [ PRINCESS CORONATION ] and [ CAMEL-BACK ] PREMIERE Line Engines would have the QUILLABLE Whistle Feature. I`m very excited about geting a Steamer with the Proto-Whistle and Bell and i wonder if anyone else is interested in a List of Engines with these Features.

I am also interested in a list of engines. I recall when Legacy was released MTH made an announcement at York stating they were releasing Gauge 1 and O-gauge engines with new features. To date I have not heard of any MTH engines that have them. I will not buy any MTH engine without at least the quillable whistle feature.

I would like to see a list..

I'm disappointed that MTH has dragged their feet on introducing the quilling whistle on new engines. This feature was shown at York in October 07 and, IMO, should have been in new engines at the start of 2008. Guess MTH prefers to be second best in a two horse race.

My understanding is that proto-whistle is the quillable whistle feature like the legacy feature, but could someone clarify what proto bell is and how it works for me? Thanks very much in advance. Big Grin

On a seperate note, I know MTH was developing the smoking whistle feature for G gauge, but is that going into O Scale too?

I believe the proto-bell feature has the bell swinging in sync with the clang clang sound. There will also be a smoking whistle feature and a pressure relief feature, in addition to the quilling whistle. All of them sound pretty neat.

The shot of steam coming out of the whistle, the quillable whistle and the swinging bell, sound like real winners.

Not so long ago, Lionel engines had smoke coming out of the cylinders synchronized with the chuffs, I haven't seen this lately. Do they still have this feature?

I would like to see all of the above plus some steam exhaust from the safety valves.

Mth put out a Video [OCT 31st]of the Smoking Whistle with Quillable Sound Effect where as the Pitch and Pressure { In a real Engine }goes up and down the Smoke from the Whistle goes from a Striaght stream to a Cone shaped stream and in-between. The Bell Swing is also syncronized to the sound.
