I have a set of Premier PAs from 2006, 20-2634. The catalog listed the minimum radius (I mean diameter) curve as 042.

However, if you look at a 2009 set of identical appearing PAs, 20-2968, the catalog says that 031 is the minimum curve.

Can anyone confirm that they will handle 031 curves?

Thanks in advance.

Bob:

I own several sets of MTH PAs in the 20-series. My layout has Lionel Super O Track which are 036 curves and the PAs run fine. The PAs from Lionel are listed as running on 031 curves according to their catalogs. My experience with MTH is that several engines that are listed either in their catalogs or even on the box flap of their engines say a wider curve such as 054 but the engine run on a sharper curve. I would suggest calling MTH and ask to speak with someone who can give you the proper answer.

Ed, I'll shoot a note to MTH Sales and see what they have to say. I'll post the response here in case anyone else is curious.

I assume you mean Diameter curve, not radius as we are talking about 3 Rail? I have the SF PA's which has the blind inner wheels. The later PA's I believe switched the blind driver (the one without the flange) to the middle drive wheels so there would be less wobble. That however would also likely slightly increase the minimum diameter curve.

You're correct - I meant "diameter".

Interesting. The 2009 PAs are cataloged as 031 while the PAs of 2006 were the ones listing 042 minimum curve.

I sent an e-mail to MTH to see what they have to say. Will post their response.

Perhaps MTH went back to the inner blind wheel again? That would be the one logical explanation, but it will be interesting to find out the reason, if one exists! Be sure to let us know.
