Join the OGR Forum guys (and a gal or two)for breakfast prior to the Saturday, November 14 opening of Allentown Train Meet Associates' annual First Frost show and meet. We meet at the Hamilton Family Restaurant (HamFam to the locals) on 22nd and Hamilton Sts (Rt. 222) in Allentown. (While we begin to gather at 6:30 a.m. many folks join us in progress.)First Frost is just a few blocks north at the Allentown Fairgrounds Ag Hall at 19th and Chew Sts.
No reservations are needed to join us for breakfast, but we usually start a running list so that we can hold appropriate table space.

NOTE: While the train meet opens to the public at 9 a.m. there is an 8 a.m. early admission for those with advance tickets. You can order tix on their website, or pick them up at many hobby shops.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: This year the ATMA folks have added an aggressive cable television buy to their ad campaign which should bring an even larger crowd, particularly of younger families...so give special consideration to those early admission tickets.

First Frost Fall 2009

Planning on Attending:
Chuck Genna (Alentown) and wife

I will be there, and my father might be coming along, but he has not given me a definite answer yet.

And Chuck, as if I haven't nagged you enough, I have to ask you something else. Will you be having those early admission tickets to sell again?

Hi Chuck,

Waiting for a head count. Might be as many as five but I doubt it. Two or three is most likely.

How good is the Allentown Show? I am usually just looking for Vintage Plasticville, MPC and some of the LTI items, are there good vendors?

I would like to finally get there since I am in Delaware now, and its only about an hour drive, would love to finally meet some of you as well.

Chuck: The First Frost is a show worthy of attending. I will be at the show and hope to meet up with all at the OGR table for an afternoon picture. Much as I would like to make the breakfast I will be unable to do so. Being 1:15 away from Allentown a 4:30 or 5:00 AM rising is difficult for a guy with my schedule. See you there.

Mark,

This is generally considered the best show in this area, second only to York for the Southeast PA / NJ / Delaware region.

I can't comment from memory directly on each of your areas of interest, but there is a good mix of dealers and it's pretty large.

In terms of big name vendors, you will normally find Joe Grzyboski, Nicholas Smith, Doherty's Trains, and many others. There are also demo layouts.

I sincerely doubt it. Homer City is quite a haul from Allentown, and at this time of the year Jimmy is probably so busy filling holiday orders that he likely doesn't even have much time to eat or sleep. Receive one of those post-midnight e-mails from Jim and you'll know what I mean. Wink

Heck, we're lucky to even get Jim to come to York once in a blue moon.

I encourage anyone who knows they're coming to purchase tickets from one of our outlets or send in for them by printing off the flyer on the website and sending in.

Chuck will have preregistered tickets available at the breakfast. However, I don't want to tie up Chuck's hands too much considering his Italian heritage. I don't want to be responsible for giving him a speech impediment. Smile

Sorry I won't be able to make it (again) this year. The other partners think if I go I would be "goofing off" if I wasn't at Ag Hall bright and early to get everything ready. Looks like you get to have all the fun...again. Frown

Ben, just for you I was going to wear a Mets cap (since I know how much Yankee fans like Mets fans). But I can't bring myself to do that either! Big Grin

Congrats to the Yankees, they played a fine series. I know the Phils will be returning to the series next year.

Yankee fans don't hate the Mets Its the Mets fans that hate the Yankees . I don't think it would go over too good having your pic in a Mets cap. It was a great series Definitely the two best teams were in it.
