All of my restorations are painted using paint from, Charles C. Wood & Co in Hartford, OH (330) 772-5171. All of his colors are a right on matches for Lionel products, prewar and postwar IMHO I buy mine through mikestrainsandhobbies . com They may cost a little more. But in my opinion they are well worth every penny.

George, he said he bought the Charles Wood paints and they are wrong.
Unless there's more than one Charles Wood paints? |

Maybe post it over on the tin plate forum? Perhaps someone there can help.

Vulcan,
My sincere apologies. George "There Isn't A Train I Wouldn't Take, No Matter Where It's Going" Edna St. Vincent Millary "Faith is not believing that God can; It's knowing that God will. God bless America" |

The 2613 service sheets shows 420 Blue, not 312. The 421 dark blue and 214 creme are correct. Have you mixed it up and sprayed test panels? Pete |

Does anyone else have trouble with this website's user interface? The pulldown menus are out-of-sync in an unusable way. I'm using IE7 and a couple months ago when I visited this website, I had the problem then, too. |

You need to determine which version you have. There are two different shades to the light blue. Depending on which one you want you should have purchased 420 or 422 Blue Comet Light Blue, and 421 Blue Comet Dark Blue, and 514R Ivory.
Always keep in mind, Ivory is the off white, and Cream will always be light yellowish in color. PRRDave My Restored Set using Charles Woods Toy Train Enamel. (I used the darker light blue): Ship it by rail or keep it!! Bring back Americas Railroad Heritage!! |

Thanks to all for your input. I've been trying to match an older restoration. Adding an extra 2613 Pullman. I don't know who restored this set or what color shades were used. If I was doing the whole train it would be no problem. Anyway
I found Krylon "Bahama Sea" today at Wal-Mart. It's a pretty good match when sprayed over dark navy blue, so I'm going with it.It was only 2.97, vs 8 and 8shipping from charles wood. By the way, Wood should color match the caps on his paints like he used to. (They are all white now)This might have saved me about 45 bucks I've spent for paint I can't use. The numbers are helpful, but your eye don't lie. So that's it, thanks again to all who responded-K-Liner |

I think you said it yourself. You were trying to match a restoration and you did not know what paint was used.
So what was used the first time to restore the train does not match the CW paint Noe the CW paint does not match your train. CW makes great paint and is great for doing restorations. |
