Uh, yeah! I've lost count!

My first wife could care less about trains...and me, as it turned out after 24 years and 11 months.

But my current wife of 12 years is as gung-ho in the hobby as I...and I didn't know that until LONG after we started dating. In fact, my interest in trains had been so suppressed by the first marital 'thing', that I was very hesitant about bringing up the subject to ANY female I talked with. I now know this was mucho dumb on my part!

Anyhow, her interest in model railroading is too deep to share here in its entirety. But, in answer to this thread's question, I'll give you two recent excerpts of what I...happily...deal with!!

When Trainfest came to Owosso, MI a couple months ago, we had Daylight mania raging. Until then my wife, Deb, had been mostly focused on DRGW (she) and ATSF (me). Well, when she saw that 4449 puff slowly by within feet of her as it left Owosso for the last time...and Deb had tears in her eyes...I knew what was next. She searched ebay for a 3R model. She bought one (Williams GS4 with sound) and couldn't resist a Lionel GS2, also!

Well, the story goes on.

I'm into, shall we say, multi-gauge trains. (It's a disease that I'm sure Obamacare won't cover...thank God!) I had been longing for a NYC Dreyfuss Hudson in HO. Why? Because one of my favorite childhood books...Tim's Train Ride...featured that gorgeous Art Deco icon, and I could not get it out of my mind. Why I didn't get a 3R version, I can't say. But when MTH released its HO version...with Scullin drivers...I couldn't resist!

But "Wait!", she said. "We need one for our 3R layout, too!"

And, so the chase was on. It was the focus of our York adventure this past month. She bought one. And TWO sets of cars to go with it!

Actually, York is to 'blame' for some of this! When we went there for the first time a few years ago...and she was registered as "and spouse", mind you...her number was one of a few drawn for a door prize. She walked away with a Lionel Christmas Set...now dutifully set up each year around the tree!

When we run the club's small 3R layout at the village during the Christmas season, she is the PR person...pushing trains...encouraging the females to get their hubby's trains out of the attic and onto the tracks..."Trains are meant to be run!", she declares! Of course, the guys love it!

Time to run trains...me and the wife! Yay!!!!!

That's how you keep 'em happy Chris. Wink My wife has a few Coach hand bags. You can buy a nice Atlas deisel loco for the price of a large Coach bag. Big Grin BTW my wife buys the Dept 56 stuff for the Christmas Garden. She has little interest in trains though but did have her own American Flyer's as a kid.

Does my wife have trains of her own? NO NO NO NO. A thousand times no. Well technically yes actually. When we were first married my wife did have some interest in my hobby and we did acquire an engine and several cars that she really wanted. After a while her interest faded, but around Christmas time she does have an interest in stocking the hoppers and gondolas with candy.
