My wife has some HO rolling stock and three engines all of which are never used. I've told her that maybe we should get rid of them so we could have more room, but she says no and they just just sit in a drawer. Who knows if she will ever run them again. Razz

They had a little annex store where you could purchase things. The other is Tweetsie the ETWNC train. East Tenessee And Western North Carolina Railroad narrow gauge. The last is a Hershey train made by K-Line.

My wife has 3 engines, MTH RTR New York Central set, MTH New York Central 4-8-2 L-3 MOHAWK PASSENGER SET , and she just bought the Imperial SD70Ace Norfolk Southern engine. We just bought DCS a month ago and she loves it. She likes to tag along with me to a train meet or to the hobby store. In fact she has found some nice rolling stock that I have missed.

Yes: The trains in our home/layout are a family collection. She owns a MTH JC Premier Blue Comet set, a collection of L. mint cars, + a mess of operating accessories including all of the oil field and operating petroleum accessories. (Our daughter owns most of the rest of the operating accessories, an MTH RK Challanger & Mohawk + appropriate rolling stock).

Neither prefers to operate, post here or attend train meets now. My wife does accompany me to local club open houses (such as the NJ Hirailers).

My wife and I were just married in Oct 2008 and I didn't know that she had an interest in trains. As I was preparing to move and was selling some items on eBay a few months before, she asked why I was getting rid of them? She said she LIKED trains and we should keep them!
Our new home has a large basement/garage and we are building our layout. Her first purchase was the Wms GG1 Girls Train and she has also bought quite a few HO models. We are just now able to run trains and she seems to be enjoying it. I picked up a NS Dash 9 from a forum member that will be a Christmas present as she likes NS.
She is in charge of the HO portion of the layout and enjoys finding scenery, bridges, structures, and the like at shows. We attended our first York meet this year and liked it a lot. I am indeed blessed!

My wife doesn't have her own trains but she get the credit for getting back into trains, I am a big NASCAR fan and driver Tony Stewart, my wife was downtown one day and it started snow and wind blowing so hard she couldn't see so she stepped inside the store to get out of the storm. The owner was just putting the NASCAR train on one of his tracks on the layout. She saw it and he ran it for her, showed her what came with the set, answered her questions, and showed her the different drivers expansion set including Tony Stewart. She said she's be back with me later that week. I got home from work, she told me about it, we had doctor's appointments the next day, my doctor told me I was stressed and needed a hobby to relax. The rest is history, bought the train set & expansion set, started building the layout, soon adding more track, switches, 90 degree crossing, etc. Year and half later still working on the biggest change to it. My wife does sometimes run the trains I have but usually just likes to watch, she says she brought out the Train Monster in me!

Happy Halloween! Sincerely, Gary Phillips

Technically the polar express is my wife's train. She doesn't run it but that's probably because until recently all we had was an oval every year under the Christmas tree. She also likes to buy the Christmas box cars.

I have my wife to thank for getting me back into the hobby. A one hundred dollar gift certificate to a local hobby store and information about joining a local O- gauge train club had me hooked once again. I am not sure that any engine is "hers", but she has been the main person who has installed the electronics in several engines (placed PS2 electronics into a PS1 engine and installed TAS electronics into an PW engine and in a Docksider engine). She is also the my scenic person on the layout and the chief author of our blog.

Rick

Coach designer bags. My wife has one. Don't see the attraction myself.

The wife keeps threatening to buy her own train in BNSF. I told her that such things will not be tolerated. Wink

Yes, I purchased her the MTH Standard Gauge Pink Set. On a visit to the Toy Train Museum a few years back, she saw a pink set on the SG layout, and loved it. The MTH set is the closest I could get to that.
The pink set at the museum, is an MTH/Franks Roundhouse version(repaint). I have heard it referred to as a Mary Kay Set.
I've been searching for one of those for a few years, so if anyone ever hears of one available, please drop me an email.

That's INSANE! Why on earth would someone part with that kind of money for something that doesn't even have a motor in it? I'm serious.

My wife would seriously recommend counciling to someone who bought one of those!
That's what Walmart was invented for. None of those stores in our phone book, so I guess I don't have to worry about it!

So if you get married the cars stay in the family. If you break up, will she get her own locos to pull them or will she ransom them back to you?

She doesn't want to hear about trains. She doesn't want to see trains. She doesn't want to speak about trains. Occasionally has nightmares about toy trains. She shutters when she hears a train horn in the distance. She will drive out of her way not to cross railroad tracks...

I can safely say she doesn't have her own trains. Big Grin

My wife loves her standard gauge MTH B&O 384 set. And the pre-war 256 set with 4 700 coaches I got her. To her tinplate looks pretty! She also weighed in on the decision to by the Orient Express and Coors SIlver bullet.

Sylvia has, at last count, a wine boxcar, a Hershey chocolate syrup tank car and a Mogen David vat car. There may be a few more, but those I can remember right now.

Of course, she has a standing order in with Ebay for the Lionel Dalmatians operating car! (Anyone got one they want to get rid of at a reasonable price?)

At every train meet and hobby store, she's rooting around looking for more Dalmatian figures. I think we're up to six or seven at this point.
