A couple of years ago, someone post an animated video of I think 3 triple headed UP Diesels going thru the Mohave Desert (I think).

Can anyone supply the link; it was an extremely well done animated video; hope this is enough info.

I lost it sometime ago when my hard drive crashed and had to be reformatted.

Thanks

I don't have then link handy, but you seem to be looking for the Kelso Train Animation. Google it and you'll find it.

I've watched this video many times and I'm convinced it pictures a coal train on the remaining south end of SP's Jawbone Branch. The scenery looks like the line just east of the ghost town of Garlock. Garlock is located between Hw's 14 and 395, about 40 miles north of Mojave CA.

At Searles Junction the train will join the Trona Railroad short line, famous for Baldwin center cabs. Coal in and potash out - to the tune of 18,000 cars a year!

zhyachts,

When I first posted this video, it's as the animation title mentions...   taking place on the Cima, CA to Kelso, CA grade through the Mojave Desert.

Alan

I'm sure you are correct and thanks for posting. However, having lived in this area on and off since 1947, the generic desert scape fits the Garlock area to a "T", including the curves and the small bridge. It guess it reminds me of old times.

zhyachts do you have a link to the original animated video.

I appreciated the info from the other members but's it's just a utube video where as the download I had some years ago was conciderably more detailed and not a copy of the video.

Thanks

Alan, saw alot of motive power this past Friday/Saturday as I drove to San Bernadino and back to Vegas on that line. The pass is quite impressive.
