Hello, Anyone have these stools? They have the metal frames, logo plastic seat. Some have backs, some don't. Are they still available? What's a good price on them? Are they good quality?

Thanks for any info on these.

The orange Lionel stools are hard to find but, when I do they have a high buy it now price. I have never found the white Lionel stool for sale. I have come across the purple MTH with the back several times when searching train sites for around $100-$120.

I bought both stools. The Lionel one I bought from a forum member about a year ago, since I could NOT find any new ones available. At that time I was told that Lionel hadn't re-licensed anybody to make them again. Good Luck finding the Lionel one. The MTH one I think still can be bought from MTH.

I have the MTH one, and it's pretty sturdy. The Lionel looks cool, but I would wait for one with a back. The most use it gets is by my 4 year old grand-daughter to get up to the train table. she kneels on it.

Good luck finding any of the Lionel stools. I've been looking for 2 years at least and nothing. By the way, the last price I saw for a new Lionel with a back was somewhere around $145.

I've had the Lionel stool for about ten years. Rugged and comfortable. Great place to watch the Legacy trains running....

I have the Lionel stool with the round logo, plus the back. It is very comfortable. Kay and I were in my local shop, and she saw it, and suggested we buy it! Sweet! Smile

My wife talked to Andy of MTH at York about the stools. He said they have to find a new Mfg. Their costs had gone up too high. They plan on getting more some day.

I have two of the orange Lionel barstools, one with the rectangular logo, and one with the round logo. I also have the MTH one with the back. All are great, colorful additions to any train room.

I like them both, but the MTH one with the back is definitely more comfortable. I even brought it down to York to sit on behind my table. Wink

The Lionel Train Stools were licensed and sold by Carraige House Concepts in Merrillville Indiana. They were also a Lionel Dealer and great people to do business with. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. From what I recall, Carraige House had the stools made by a manufacturer in Chicago. They are a great addtion to a train room or recreation room.

I also have been looking for a Lionel bar stool to sit on at my control panel. I contacted the nice gentleman at Carriage House over a year ago and he said he would contact me if more were made. I never heard back from him. Sorry they went out of business.

I know, with my local college (Not the U of O), they have made a lot of money when they increased the amount of licensed products they made available to football fans. Oregon State University has quadrupled the size of their fan store and it is to be expanded again.

I mention this, because it would be nice to have Lionel license and sell items at one place, where we could buy licensed items as gifts, or like the stools, have unique items for our train room or home decoration. Maybe down the road.

IMHO.

There was an interview in OGR some years ago with the (then)honchos of LIONEL. The answer to the question of how much money was involved in licensing the LIONEL brand to bed sheets, salt and pepper shakers, and "stuff" was; "millions". Makes you wonder why MTH and LIONEL don't do more of it. I have been looking for the stools for years, so found this thread informative. We also have tin signs, a popcorn tin, etc etc. They probably don't have to go the Elvis Presley Enterpises route and license every idea that comes down the pike, but, Jerry and Mike: "Millions".

Why not buy a similar stool and cover it with some type of Lionel train fabric?

You might want to try America's Best Trains in Itasca, Illinois. They used to have the stools in stock. I haven't been there in several months, though.

I have 2 of the MTH stools and agree with CSX Al, they are very comfortable with the back. Would love to get a Lionel stool and an Atlas O stool (hint, hint).

A few weeks ago at York I found the white Lionel Trains Inc. stool to match my orange one. I also use a Craftsman stool of the same design, which does the job.

I bought 2 of the MTH one's last fall from the store listed above. They have the back and are very comfortable. Tgis shop knows that some of the legs don't have all the right holes drilled in them and they will drill them before shipping. Can't remember what I paid exactly but seems like it was less than $250 for both including the shipping. Smile
