Lionel's Legacy has been around for awhile now and I had thought that I had heard that OGR was to offer a tutorial DVD on the product along the lines of their excellent TMCC, Z4000, and DCS DVDs.

Does anyone have any information as to the status of this project?

There is no Legacy DVD in the works at OGR at the present time.

To bad there is no OGR Legacy DVD in the works. The OGR videos on TMCC are what convinced me to shift from conventional to command control. Guess I'll just have to wait to shift to Legacy.

What can we do to convince OGR to produce a Legacy DVD?

The previous releases are so well produced that it would be a shame not to have a Legacy tutorial as a part of this terrific series.

Ah yes, the mighty dollar.

I've always wondered how the funds are structured for these productions. Does OGR put up all of the production costs? Or does Lionel or MTH share with the heavy lifting?

If OGR goes it alone, do they need to obtain some type of permission from Lionel or MTH to "use" their respective products? Are there any licensing fees involved? I would hope not on both counts as one would think that these videos would bolster sales of the particular product.

I certainly realize that these DVDs are quite an undertaking. I appreciate all that OGR has done in the past in order to offer the previous DVDs. I'm just hoping that there's a way produce one for Lionel's Legacy.

From what I understand, OGR will not be producing any new DVDs for a while. Apparently, they need to either upgrade their recording & reproduction equipment to high definition (a cost in excess of $100,000) or contract with someone who already has the capability for this process.

That's a shame...These videos are what sold me on TMCC, the new ZW, the Z4000 and DCS.

I hope that Lionel might see the potential for additional sales and pitch in for a Legacy DVD production.

Lionel has a dvd on Legacy they did earlier this year. It was free for anyone who attended the Vision Line Previews earlier this year. Not sure if they were also handed out at York. For those not familiar with Legacy at all, its covers the basics quite well. I forget how much there is regarding advanced operations, but like I said for folks who never used Legacy or TMCC, is quite good.

Allan Miller.......

When and if you do a Legacy DVD, please have MartyE as a consultant. His homemade video's and on hand help provided a layman's tutorial on how Legacy works. Kudo's to Marty, he is always helping on the Legacy/TMCC section.

Allan, he may be able to help you with equipment rental... Roll Eyes

Well, I've checked Ebay to no avail for Lionel's Legacy DVD. Although it is not available for resale, I was hoping that someone who was fortunate enough to obtain one might be selling.

I've also e-mailed Lionel to check on the availability of this DVD. My fingers are crossed.

I think that Tex may be on to something with regard to Marty E's involvement with a possible OGR Legacy DVD.

Allan;

It just occurred to me that Kalmbach Publishing (CTT, MRR, et al) and TM Books & Videos have the same problem. I realize that you guys compete with each other up to a point. But would it be possible for the three of you to pool your resources for the betterment of the hobby? Since what you each does overlaps to some degree, it would seem to make good business sense to share in developing a state of the art production facility.
I know that this is probably "pie in the sky" but I thought I would throw the idea out on the table.
It's like cooking pasta. To tell if it's done, throw some up against the wall and see if it sticks. Big Grin

Jon,

Where did you get it? Is it still possible for others to get a hold of one?
