New 36' Reefers and a D&H Bi-centennial U-23b.... the new Decker 36' has the lettering on the roof....

Wonderful - heh and that guy looking for a Susie Q caboose?.... They just announced a rerun - new numbers....

New news - in the announcememts of the passenger cars Jim says that they can be either track power or battery power for the lights - you choose..... That's different than what I understood at York.....

I think it's cool that for the passenger cars they announce two now and then more to come so you can build your fleet as you go.... makes the whole thing more affordable IMHO......

New SD-40's

Streamlined 10-6 Sleepers

Streamlined Dome Chair Car

Trinity 5161 Covered Hoppers

New 36' Reefers

New 50' PS-1 Box Cars

New NE-6 Cabeese

New U23b Paint Schemes

Trainman 50'6" Box Cars

I like the conrail unit. I wonder if it will have the AAR trucks instead of the High adhesion trucks?

Now's the time for those of us who run unit grain trains to beat the drum for, say, eight roadnumbers in the Trinity hoppers. At least offer the BNSF cars in more than four road numbers.

I am with Rich on this one. I was hoping an 8-10 pack was going to be announced along with the 4 single units. Well, like the man says, start beating the drums! Please email Atlas O.

The Trainman BNSF and CN boxcars look good as well.

So are the passenger cars aluminum or plastic. I am thinking aluminum but the descriptions never actually stated this. I could have missed it in my excitement!

Anyone heard when the new 60' C&NW passenger cars are do to arrive? I've got a set of seven of them ordered. (didn't need two combines but ordered two of everything else) I've also got a Lionel 4-6-0 C&NW (Omaha Road) ten wheeler just chomping at the bit to pull that train. Should be a good representation of the C&NW in about 1920, for the layout.

Hoping to see them, soon.

Yeah I know. With virtually all the train companies utilizing modular tooling so they can model key differences between roads, I don't see why they couldn't have on this either. It's not like the SP was some tiny obscure road...

JD's custom run was supposed to represent the Morrison Knudsen rebuild. Not what I want.

Hey Steve
I think this has to be the new project. In 1975 EL had 50 U23B's on order. When they got swallowed into Conrail the order was cancelled and the L&N took delivery of the engines that were originally ordered by EL. Methinks Jeff Sohn might have to do a couple of U23B's in EL to see what might have been

They are still scheduled for July but there's no date for the container to ship yet - I would expect them a little late as things have slown done a tad - ala the 40' Reefers...... As soon as they ship I am thinking we wil lsee a second set of roadnames.... Jim said something someplace about how a string of 60' PRR cars would look great behind a GG-1..... Got my palms sweaty with that one....

Back when this was being kicked around just a few weeks ago...I emailed Jim Weaver about the road number issue...he promptly replied that 4 road numbers would be all that are issued in the first run.

Perhaps he can be convinced to issue more.

One way or another I will eventually get the DW&P SD40s and matching Extended-Vision Caboose. I saw them many times and now the SD40s are retired from service on the CN-GTW mainline.

I will soon go run the GTW SD40 and GTW Extended-Vision Caboose that I have right now.

The Trinity 5161 Hoppers are of interest. I have to take a look at all the road names and schemes to make a choice.

The TrainMan Modern 50' 6" Boxcars are something to ponder.

Why not? Golden Gate pax cars are plastic, and so are Williams 70' cars too. you are paying for the correct window configurations and the abundance of details. plus the additional circuitry:

So what's the actual origin of the phrase, "Whoa, Nellie!", to which Mr. Muffin alludes?
  • Frequent cry of Gene Autry's pal, Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) as he tried to stay aboard his horse, Ring-eyed Nellie.
  • Exclamation uttered by Roy Rogers' sidekick, Pat Brady, as he chased bad guys in his jeep named Nellie Belle
  • Expression coined by television announcer, Dick Lane, to describe a bad spill in the wrestling ring or on the roller derby track
  • Term popularized by ABC Sports announcer, Keith Jackson, to describe an unexpected development in an event.

What, me worry?

Growing up in central Illinois on the Main Line of Mid-America, I may have to get the Illinois Central SD-40. To me, she's a beauty.

"Whoa, Nellie". Keith Jackson (sportscaster) always used that phrase.

The passenger cars will be plated ABS plastic. The use of plastic allows for modeling items such as welding seams that cannot be modeled on aluminum cars. Also the cars will be much quieter than aluminum cars when running.

I'm sure the cars will be nice, with a lot of detail. Nonetheless, I'd think it will take some doing to match the use of aluminum construction to replicate the actual stainless steel CZ cars.

I think I will stay with 3rd Rail aluminum construction cars. 3rd Rail does a very well job on detail with fantastic underbody detailing and correct full interior layout and the correct window arrangement on all of the cars in the set. IMHO I don't think plastic will look as good on the C Z set as aluminum.

I also wish MTH would bring back there aluminum Pass. Cars @ about 90 to a 110 per car.

Just IMHO
