We have LOTS of visitors to our layout and we'd like to have a guest book for them to sign.

Do any of you have a guest book for visitors?
If yes, is it a railroad themed book?
Where can I get one?

Thanks.

I think a guest book is a great idea. I don't know where you can get a pre-existing train-themed one, but you can always have a custom one made (see this link).

Pat, try My Publisher.com You can design (very easy to do) your own hard-cover book. Upload appropriate photos and other art. My wife did it with our daughter's wedding photos. Very classy!

Pat,

In addition to a guest book you might want to consider making up rail passes and giving them out to your guests.

Yes. We use it to remind the park that the public actually thinks the layout is a positive exhibit -- not a tribute to rampant industrial expansion and shameless self-promotion the artists in the park think we are.

We have a few regular visitors that come by at least once a month just to see trains run and watch our progress.

You might also have your own railroad stationary printed to match. Walt Disney did a lot of these things with his back yard Carolwood Pacific RR. Cool and fun at the same time (at least to us train nuts Big Grin).

Don't forget to put one of these next to the guest book.

Although my site is far from complete I did make up a railpass many years ago. I will redo it soon.

you should talk to a local printing shop not a national chain but a local shop that can help you the most.

Pat,

That's a great idea! I should started one yesterday as we hosted the NCHR cookout! Smile

With almost 30 people attending I could have gotten off to a good start.

Some of the local clubs here have been using guest books for years. I wonder how many times my name is in them.

Pat, Maybe you could get one free from your freindly local Funeral Home. If it's black, just stick a PRR logo on it. Once you get one, I'll be happy to drive over and sign it Big Grin.
BTW, is Jean's great looking vegtable stand on the layout yet? Joe
