Sam,
The Summer 2009 Atlas catalog that I received today has the F units listed as a July pre-order and a delivery date of Nov and yes the Erie units were listed, so we will probably see these offered later in the month

Enjoy Wink Cool

LVfan, (Frank)

Darn, I didn't get my catalog yet. I guess Hillside is closer to Edison! Great news.

I was in your town for the last couple of nights, with the Concrete Tie TLM on the NEC near Metropark and Metuchen.

Frank,

Anything interesting announced in the new catalog that we aren't already privy to? (I don't get the print copy)

Then I must've rode past you on Thursday's outbound Pennsylvanian. I also remember watching an Acela, (with a NJT hot on it's heels) passing the work area in the opposite direction on the local track. Man, you guys had everything out there but the kitchen sink Smile

Hi Brian,

No,
The summer 2009 covers July, August, and September. There are no brand new first time items mentioned.
For locomotives in the master line we have, in addition to the just announced next run of SD40's
another run of Alco C628's with a Sept pre-order date
new numbers for D&H as well as LV snowbirds
new paint schemes for PRR, Canadian Pacific, and Southern Pacific

GP35's with a Sept pre-order date
Seaboard
SP Kodachrome
RF&P
DT&I
Norfolk & Western ( high hood )

SW switchers for Sept pre-order
Milwaukee
PRR
Santa Fe
Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo
Strasburg

August pre-order has some new
40' steel reefers
40' wood reefers

For the F units as I have listed in my post above this one you can add a NYC B unit, no picture for this, but it is mentioned in the text.

For Trainman
We already know about the second run of U23B's and the rest of the July pre-order
The only other Trainman items listed are Bay Window Cabooses listed with a Sept pre order date
Conrail
N&W
Southern
Western Pacific

Now just because we don't see it in this new catalog does not mean that Atlas does not have some brand new items planned for later in the year. We could see an announcement for these later this month or August. Remember it was last July that they announced the brand new U23B model

Enjoy Wink Cool

Thanks for the deets, Frank! I was kinda hoping for a new run of Trainman 40' boxcars and flatcars...c'est la vie...the only things of interest are the steel and wood reefers...I was moaning about too many billboard reefers and not enough RR-owned wood reefers and Jim Weaver said I'd like summer '09...I wouldn't mind an FGE or BREX or Merchant's Despatch in the yellow scheme...

Again, thanks for the news!

Those Atlas announcements are really good. I was down at Just Trains in Newark and after looking around there I stopped over the Newark train station for a couple of hours between 4 and 8pm and watched a few Amtrak trains go by. There were two that even stopped at Newark for passengers both going to Boston and washington and I even saw a freight train pulling into the yard next to the Chrysler plant just as I arrived at around 4:15. Sam were you driving any of those Amtrak trains at that hour because I saw a few Acelas going by and I was wondering if you were driving any of them? Smile

Thanks for the info on the reefers. I like the Armour and Swift sight unseen, I'll have to check out the others.

Railride & Bob Dixey hope you both enjoyed your NEC visits. There ism a whole load of "improvement" work on the New Jersey portion and Newark, DE. always semms to have people watching trains from the platform. We do 135 MPH through Newark with an ACELA, it's a safe place to watch from on the southbound side near the station building.

See Ya ... SAM

Oh Silly Muffinman! Don't you have the Kaminski book on Billboard reefers? Roll Eyes With the amount of Atlas O reefers in your collection as well as your knowledge of the Atlas O reefers, how far off could Atlas O go with the decorations? I am willing to be not far off and please do not reveal to me that in your VAST Atlas O reefer collection, that you do NOT have the Kaminski book! Red Face

Oh, we have a copy, for sure.... I will have to look these up..... still want to see their art work though..... As you know from the book some schemes changed overtime.... I like the part where they couldn't advertise "beer" so they advertised "brew" then 9 months later felt they could just say "beer"....
