The other day, I was puttering around on fancast and came across a western show that was on TV in the 2003 season called Peacemakers. I was still overseas when this was on and I never saw it on re-runs. But I like westerns so it caught my attention. In the show "intro", each clip has a steam engine that looks like a Heisler but I can't be sure. It appears to be used in all the railroad clips, too. So, you 19th century experts, take a look when you have time and let us know, for certain, what type of steam engine it is.

It is a two truck Shay.

I concur, based on the small size of the front engineer window and the raised running board adjacent to the cab. But I have been unable to locate an image of a currently operable Shay with that stack.
Roaring Camp perhaps? Steve |

Yeah, I was just going to say that, judging by the offset boiler and raised catwalk in front of the engineer's window, it's a Shay.

According to IMDB the show was filmed in Vancouver, BC (like every other TV show - ever notice all the planets on Stargate or Battlestar look like Western Canada?) - I'd guess the engine used would be this one:

That WAS a great show (1 season), but Hollywood only wants to feed us garbage. Everyone I talked to about "Peacemakers" liked it. So another good show with a good cast got thrown away. And yes, I thought it was a shay, also.
