Let's get the pictures started. I know a lot of you out there have special Halloween layouts--I for one do not. So I a going to start with pictures of the Brute.

How big is the Brute??Here it is beside a 400E:

Let's see your pictures.

I'm in San Diego this week for a meeting. I was able to take a side trip to Balboa Park and visit the San Diego Model RR Museum. Here are some shots from the 3 rail layout. This part of the layout was decorated-up for Halloween.

These cabs to pull my MTH Western Maryland tractor trailers were bought at York in October.

In keeping with the All Hallows Eve theme, here is an outhouse near the graveyard... spooky if you have to go at night!

And now finally I have some progress to post. Thanks to a couple new Ross switches I bought from our forum's Paul Kallas, I finally had all the peices (and some free time) to finish the trackage into my South Station passenger area.

Scott, I can't see the Brute in your pictures. I guess the engine is too small to notice. Wink

In all seriousness, that is a great looking engine.

Happy Halloween!

In town for Halloween, these visitors are admiring the fall foliage.

On the scarier side of town, it's best not to visit the brothers in pink for any treats this Halloween:

Hey Scott, that Brute looks like a good way to test the structural integrity of your bridges!

I have to admit I kind of cringed when I saw the first picture! It's a neat engine though.

On a beautiful fall weekend here in northern Arizona, the kids and grandkids came up for a weekend, so I had to do a little "bending of the twig". Did some railfanning on the BNSF main line near Seligman. You sure get a lot of friendly waves from engineers when they see little kids watching!

Scott......have you placed the "Brute" on a scale, how much does it weigh? I thought I saw a "sag" in your girder bridge.

Gee Marty, what is the going nightly rate at the Asylum? Can't you afford a Motel 6? Next spring, on my trip to Texas I'm going to spend the night in a haunted MKT hotel. I saw it on Gost Stories....seems someone got murdered and missed the train.

Wow, Mike! Your pumpkin patch really gets me in the spirit of Halloween. Halloween has never been my favorite holiday after I out grew the trick or treat age, but your pumpkins go a long ways toward improving that. I wish I could get my wife to grow these kinds of pumpkins. Big Grin

Mike, THAT is one heck of an impressive pumpkin patch! Gee, I hope you like BNSF... Big Grin

Here is my Halloween theme contribution:

The last time I posted to the weekend Photo thread, Idlewild Amusement Park got mentioned. So I thought I'd post a few shots from there. My apologies for the quality of these: I used frame capture from my video camera for several shots.

Idlewild has one long loop of track, and 2 of the ubiquitous Chance C.P. Huntingtons. The engines differonly in their paint schemes, but the trains they pull are quite different from each other.

This is one train.

This is the engine for the other,

and these are the cars.

Idlewild is well known to the small set for something that is uniquely theirs: Mr. Rogers Trolley. There are actually 2 of them. Feel free to take a ride, but be warned: This is a KIDS ride, NOT a TROLLEY ride!

Lastly, lest you think to pass by this park, it is home to some rides and attractions that are found in few other places. Thier Wild Mouse ride is a prototype of the common ride seen all over the country. But this one is not a rubber stamped one of thousands. Quite unusual. They also have one of the last surviving (if not THE last) Catapiller rides. Lastly be sure to check out Confusion Hill. This attraction seems to defy the laws of gravity.

Great photo's everyone!! Here's my contribution, I have been working on the layout this week, not as much as last week but still some progress. I'm almost finished with the Moonville station and still need to do some detailing.

The Texas Special made a stop this afternoon...

I'm also almost finished with the stockyard, just some more detailing to do. The Docksider is rolling by now, take a look.

And finally here are a couple of over all shots of the yard area.

No Halloween train here either, but I do have the Hershey's 100th Anniversary Train from K-Line. What's more appropriate to celebrate Halloween with than candy?

This is a neat set. In addition to the smokey pacific leading the train, it also hauls five differently decorated cars, plus five buildings and people. This photo shows the station, newsstand and roof of the house. It also came with a barn and station platform.

I also have a few Hershey's Collectibles figurines...

Happy Halloween. Get lots of candy!

Dave, with some tweaking after I installed it on the layout it works great. I bought two basket case sets and refurbished them into one unit but I only have one car, it took time but works great.

John Sethian, That is a fantastic exicution of Edward Hopper's work. Famed modeler John Armstrong did Hopper's "Night Hawks" on his layout and I have always admired his idea of including "fine art" scenes in three dimensions. You are an inspiration...now if I can only follow your lead....
