can anyone tell me how much space would be between fastracks if i used a 72"
turnout for a bypass .. i need a bypass but dont have much room so i want it to be as close as possible.. 72" switch would keep me closest right?

The distance between the center rails is 6".

John, I think you are right in assuming you can make the tracks closer. The 6" between centres applies to the difference in radius from one curve to the the next size. So going from a 72 turnout and using a narrower radius curve back must make the tracks closer. There is a Yahoo group called Lionel Fastrack, they can help, also if you can use Railroad track software, it can work it out for you.
