I see the 613 UP set and others like it remade.. But I noticed they are not TMCC ready . I can not figure out why at least Lionel could not of made them at least TMCC ready.. What would be my options to make them TMCC ready? Thanks DANiel

The electronics needed just to make Conventional Classics TMCC ready (i.e. upgradeable to TMCC by just plugging in new boards) would still be more complex than the basic reversing unit they come with, so overall cost is probably one of several reasons why this is not a feature. However, they can be upgraded fairly easily in most cases by using an Electric Railroad Co. (ERR) Railsounds Commander combined with an AC Commander to drive the AC Pullmor motor.

This could be easy to do for lionel if they use the same board size of an electronic RR TMCC board with the same pin connections, it would than be as easy as unpluging wires from one board and pluging in the wires to the new board. I cant see any major cost increase and it could be a win-win for everyone. this could be done with all of the product line not just PW remakes but starter sets and all conventional products.

Back in the late 1990s, Lionel had incorporated command and Railsounds upgradeable boards into many mid price engines. Just pull out the standard reverse board and replace with a TMCC board. Same was true for converting Signalsounds to Railsounds. Are any of the newer non command Lionel locos like this ? Seems like it was a great idea. I upgraded the newly tooled baby Hudson and also the clear shell F3s within minutes.
