Hello everyone. Some of you may remember the questions concerning just which conventional classics sets Lionel's $50 rebate coupons are good for. To get a final answer, I decided to call Lionel and this is what they told me:

*The coupons are good toward ANY SET in BOTH 2009 CATALOGS. Yes, that's right BOTH. It had been mentioned here before that the coupons were no good toward the '09 V2 sets, but customer service has told me that THEY ARE INDEED ELIGIBLE.

*The coupons ARE NOT GOOD toward seaparate sale items. This was also mentioned before and is now confirmed.

Just an update for anyone out there who still had questions. Smile

Thanks for the info nicky! Did you also know of the price reduction on the new have F3 set. It was reduced by 100 dollars and with the rebates i have 4 because I got the 4 original sets of pw classics that would be 200 in rebates for me (I think)

I saw that too. Lionel claims it was a typo, but I think they knew such a high price was scaring off customers. Also, it's only one coupon per set, so you'd have to buy all four from 09 V2 to get your full rebate's worth.

Real collectors can't use the coupon as it will be collectable itself.
Lionel created a nice gimmick - use it and you lose it.
My blank coupon is packed away in an air-tight box increasing in value as I write this Smile
Reminds me of the coupon printed on some MPC boxes in the 1970's.
If anyone has the CC coupon handy - does it say that photo copies are acceptable?

Funny, I felt the SAME way about the coupon. I too consider it original set documentation, so it took me a looong time to finally decide to use it. In the end, $50 is definitely worth more to me in this economy than a piece of paper. I know it's futile, but I will request to have the deactivated coupon sent back to me if possible, and see if they say yes. I'm sure they have some stamp that says EXPIRED or REDEEMED Roll Eyes

I just found my check from Lionel for $50 for my purchase of the first Standard O F3 Santa Fe F3's. Collectible or not, only time will tell.

I don't think it will apply to the Santa Fe F3's...being a separate sale item...not a set.

No, why? I thought that section was meant for OGR related events?
