Hi Scott:

Whereabouts is Roadside America? My wife wants to take a road trip through Pennsylvania and this looks like a stop to mee my interests.

Don:

I really like those Alco PAs in their New Haven delivery scheme. But why does MTH insist on including hand holds next to the nose door on their NH diesels, when they never had them? Wouldn't it be easier to leave them off?

Also, while we're at it, who needs an opening door on the nose? The hinges are often way too large and I can never get the darn thing open anyway, as I'm too afraid to break the thing off...

New Haven Fans;
I was passing through Connecticut Wednesday and saw a modern New Haven Diesel. Is there a heritage paint scheme on these? I thought New Haven was a fallen flag.

I've seen the genesis and FL9 in New Haven colors. I think NH Chris could provide background

Scott:

The New Haven RR was merged into Penn Central on 1/1/69. RIP. CT-DOT has been indulgent of NH fans by painting not only the FL-9s in New Haven colors (which started out as NH engines) but also examples of four other classes of engines:

NH Genesis, used on non-electrified branches:

NH GP-38s, used on "Shoreline East" service east of New Haven, with some runs to Stamford:

BLO-20s, brand new diesel road switchers, currently in shakedown runs on branch lines:

At one time, Metro North ran some F7s painted up like FL-9s, but they are now in storage at the RR Museum of NE:

Which one did you see?

NH Chris

.....Hey guys, heres a few photo's of Chuck See's great work, on our club layout.

......Hard working track crew....Man, look at that broken rail!

......I wonder if he thinks he's hidden "behind" that billboard?"....

......The old general store, taken from up on "Roundhouse Bluff".....

.......I think a lot of the rock work was done by AGHR Howie & others, however Chuck is the creator of these great little vignettes.......................Remy

I'd like to get a couple friends (not big train fans) to go to Roadside America for something to do one day when summer's over. Is it enjoyable for people who are not big into trains?

You don't have to be into trains to enjoy Roadside America--I believe they have a lot of tour groups stop.

Tom is an OCSMR member and a very talented modeler. I don't believe he frequents this forum. the interior is done in printed panels, it is quite remarkable also. I will try to get close to it and get more of the interior. you have to get real close to see all the door and window detail. I will get some detail shots and email them to you.
