Hi All, I'm looking for a subway car that could be modified for S scale use, I see the Lionel MTA Long Island Rail Road M-7 Commuter set and wonder if anyone here knows how big it is? I could figure out the scale length if anyone has a car they can measure? Thanks Dave Branum

They're shorter than scale length (about 12" long) but slightly oversize in all other dimensions. They'd be way too wide to look right on "S" track.

Thanks, PCJ. Are the windows and other proportions too big for S scale if the cars were cut down the center line and narrowed? Anyone know of smaller subway cars or similiar multiple unit cars that might be a starting point for an S scale car? .............dave
