I have a large collection of 1/18 scale dicast muscle cars- mostly limited editions. I have a lot of NHRA race cars. Most of my collection is Chevy, Plymouth, and Dodge. I plan to start selling many of these on eBay soon.

I also collected Hot Wheels. Now I only add VW Drag Buses to my HW collection. I have baseball cards that I collected from the late 70's to around 2004. I have a bunch of comic books from the late 80's.

Just one item in my other collection~

1950 Chris Craft Express Cruiser, 30', twin 145's. "The Clubhouse" is double- planked mahogany hull, and identical to the boat my parents had when I was growing up. Sleeps up to 6. Think "all-wood camper" for the water.

Currently "on the hard"; hopefully relaunch in New Jersey's Lake Hopatcong in 2010.

Of course, there's a 24' patio boat ("Paradise") to be used as our "fun" boat, too!

Hmmmm - Not so much as collect but accumulate: books and old movies. My wife likes Depression Glass as well as Standard Gauge and G, but has more restraint than I do. Now if I were rich, I'd love to collect mechanical music such as Wurlitzer Band Organs or Calliopes (such as you might hear/see with Merry-Go-Rounds).

Any issues with rot up around the bow? I used to work in a yard that had quite a few of those that came through with bow rot. Of course they were also salt-water boats, which didn't help.

The other issue was with yards that didn't understand that wooden boats are to be moved on a marine-railway. Slings are for glass boats!

I collect records (and machines to play them on), Hot Wheels, and I plan on getting started in collecting antique and classic cars after my grandfather is no longer able to take care of his (I know that sounds horrible, but right now him and I show them, and after something happens to him, which I hope isn't for a long time yet, I plan on continuing that, with at least one of his Mustangs).

I dabble in coin collecting, and railroad memorabilia, and refrigerator magnets from places I visit. I used to collect comic books (still have most of my collection), and I have a gun collection (some acquired, some inherited), and I used to collect Star Wars memorabilia (still have everything).

You could also say that I collect names of relatives, as I am also into genealogy.

I used to collect wine, but I got a little too successful at it. Now I just drink it! Big Grin My cellar is still large enough that i have to store it off premises. If my wife, friends and i keep up a good enough pace, we should whittle it down to a manageble size in 10 yrs or so.

I also collect one of a kind, hand made kites. from just a few inches to over 250 sq feet, if you can put a line on it and fly it, i want it.

I have a small collection of old table top radios. One wood cathedral style and 2 bakelite cased ones. The sound they produce is just wonderful. And they don't instantly produce sound when you turn them on. The tubes take a few seconds to warm up, and the sound slowly fades in. The older guys among us will know what I'm talking about.

I collected hotwheels cars for more than 10 years and had over 1000 Doubles new in the package and they filled two 5 drawer dressers. That summer I went to an estate sale and there was a site I could never imagine. The person HORDED Hotwheels cars, two of everything made, It filled rooms. But the catch was that His house was a mess and so was his family. He focused his time on those cars and nothing else. This was on my mind for a long time. In December of the same year, My Bank was doing a toys for tots drive. I saw the empty boxes and said I know what to fill them with.I went home, filled the truck up with all of those Hotwheels and donated them to the toys for tots. I hope I made some kids happy. I felt better! I play with my trains everyday but those cars were just a collection of unplayed with toys. They may have been worth something someday but it made me happy that day.

While I was away from trains, I accumulated a small coin collection, mostly mint and proof sets. They were easy to obtain, even all the years I was overseas in the Army. Just stayed on the US Mint mailing list and sent in my order every year.
We also accumulated a collection of LPs (vinyl records, 33-1/3 RPM) and some 45's. Probably have over 400 LP's (a little bit of everything from the Animals to the Zombies). Plan on digitizing them one of these days.
And baseball cards. I still have a few from when I was a kid back in the 50's. When our sons were young, I used to buy them the complete boxed sets that came out every year and the trade sets when they were available. I occasionally bought an extra set for myself. Still in the boxes. Who knows? Maybe they are or will be worth something down the road.
Considering my fascination with toy trains, it's probably a good thing that I was stationed in places overseas that didn't have them and I lost touch with the hobby. If I had been accumulating trains all those years, I would need a separate warehouse building to hold it all. Big Grin

I collect Plasticville in O/S sized kits. My collection is about 96% complete. I also collect other plastic kits and items made by Bachmann such as StoryTown, and the Plasticville Units which contain several kits in one box. I also collect Littletown kits as these were the precursor to a lot of Plasticville items after Bachmann bought them out in the early 1950's.

Henrysdad - I'm a Mercedes enthusiast (although I don't know much about the mechanics and such) and must ask: Is your Benz a 420SEL Turbo Diesel? My grandparents, up until recently, had a gas 420SEL. They recently got rid of it favoring their 2006 Lexus and 2009 Porsche but they were the original owners (bought the car new in 1989) and kept it in showroom condition up until they got rid of it. They only reason they got rid of it was some minor issues (faded paint, it needed a new battery, and the dash was beginning to crumble slightly) but that thing wasn't a car. It was a tank! Those older Benzes will run forever if you take care of them.

Enjoy it!

Techie, thanks for the reply. I should have been more specific regarding Old Cal & Mr. Dewey. Before my wife and I left for Florida back in May 2001, a good friend from work knew about my Coolidge & Dewey Campaign Buttons. (I had three Coolidge, and one Dewey Button) He was a true Political Junkie. His oldest Campaign Buttons went back to Truman. He offered me $50.00 for each.

I could not say no. We had been a auditing team for ten years. Here in Oldsmar Florida outside of Tampa we have a huge Flee market. My wife and I will be going there within the month. My neighbor told me that he has seen Political Memorabilia, and trains at this Flee Market. I would love to pick up just one old Coolidge, or Dewey Button. Quite frankly, I wish I had kept them. But a good friend is happy, and I purchased some Scale Lionel Rolling Stock from Charles Ro before we moved.

Many thanks,

Billy C

Besides my trains I collect Debt. Lots and lots of it. LOL instead of collecting antique Hammond Organs I am selling them actually. And collecting more Debt as well...
My newest Accumulation of Debt is this '09. LOL, My '04 was so "like new" I had to keep it. It gets all the positive "Love your Car" comments. In the New car I ride the president of the C.N.E. RR in the back seat so he can watch the latest video on DVD I have taken of our line at work.

By keeping the Blue '04 I now have a second hobby I guess. And I hate to walk...
