I just knew it had to happen. The word got out on the layout about the BN Engine gathering and the BN cabooses demanded equal exposure on OGR Forum. Obviously, since Yard Bull started this thread, the cabooses figured that if they brought along a SP&S flat car and a NP box car, they would be welcome. Big Grin

Here is the first arrival --

Quickly followed by a few more predecessor road cabooses --

And finally, the BN cabooses arrived and joined the group picture --

Are the two BN cabooses on the left K-Line ones from Western Depot? I ordered one from them and it was almost teal in color. I ended up returning it. Those don't look that bad in the photo if they are the same ones.

Yes, they are the K-Line cabooses from Western Depot. I think the green is also the wrong shade but when I got them, K-Line was the only one offering a close to scale version. I say "close to scale" because these seem to be slightly too big compared to the Atlas and MTH versions which are also pictured. The color in the picture of the K-Line looks better than it really is due the flash, they really are different from the rest.

Picture added ---

Here you can better see the size and color difference of the K-Line caboose. The Atlas caboose is on the left, the K-Line in the middle, and the MTH caboose on the right.

WOW, a great gathering! Very interesting to see the side to side comparison. Be careful, if these sit very long somebody will weld steel plates over the side windows and paint them green. It ain't pretty. And yes, the SP&S and GN caboose are always welcome on the property. YB

I would love to see an A-B-B-A set of F-units for freight AND passenger service. I've not seen any F-units since Williams (right?) did them several years ago. Happy 4th.

You're right, the BN had a lot of F units and they would look good in Cascade Green too! YB

I really would like MTH to make another round of BN SD-40-2 with either the white face or the tiger stripe. The old model is Proto 1, and a new one is due...

tsched and MUEagle you guys have me reaching for my wallet already!! With the way MTH has been selling out of BNSF and BN issues I'm guessing F-units and SD-40s would fly off the shelves.

MTH help us spend some green! (pun intended)

The nice thing about all of these, SD40-2, GP-30 or GP-39, SD-45, F-7 or F-9 is that they are already tooled up to make them, with the expception of the paint masks. BN Cascade Green is a pretty simple paint system and BN is a big, big system, the Green is seen everywhere! MTH, are you listening?

Yard Bull's list, in selfish order:

SD-45, BN and NP
SD40-2, original BN white stripe nose
GP-39 BN "white face" (updated GP-30)

What's your list?

YB-

I too want MTH to make the NP SD-45 plus the U30C

I'm in agreement with the other choices, but don't forget the Pacific Pride GP-38 with all the predeccessor railroad symbols. That should be made as well.

I saw the BN SD60MAC at the front of a BNSF Coal Train on the GTW/CN mainline.

Three months later I read the news that the BN SD60MAC demonstrators were all sold.

I am glad I saw it in person on run through traffic once.

A Burlington Northern SD60MAC can be at the head of any coal train.

Andrew- Lately I have been seeing DEEX coal trains headed by BNSF units in the BN executive scheme leading freights out of Toledo. Do you know what train number that is and it it the same train you where talking about?

I saw the Pacific Pride yesterday while passing through Everett, Washington. It is looking pretty tattered. MTH is making BN GP-38 engines in the 2009 V 2 catalog, it might be a good time to run a batch of Prides. YB

I have seen various unit coal trains pulled and pushed by BNSF SD70ACes and BN SD70MACs in 2009.

I even photographed parts of two of the trains.

I never got a scanner. I am not up on train numbers.

The only magazine I know where train numbers is Railroads Illustrated.
